Need travel tips from Cheeseheads!
We'll be in Madison this weekend for the Ironman Competition...any recommendations for (casual) restaurants or "must see" landmarks, etc.?

(Hoping "Cheeseheads" isn't offensive!)

5. There's a Michael's in Verona
Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 12:15 AM by Vote_Clark_In_WI
doesn't the bike route run through Verona?

Otherwise, Monroe St on west side of Madison.

edited to add that the Monroe St. Michaels is near Bluphies, which is a great place to eat (with nice variety of food).

And remember, it's Madison. There are few places where you can't go casual!

4. Well, here are my suggestions.
I spent four wonderful years at UW-Madison (1972-1976) so my advice is a little stale, but here are some suggestions:

The best burgers I ever ate were in a place called Dottie Dumpling's Dowry. (At the time it was in a little quonset hut style building off Randall Street near the stadium. It has long since moved and a few years ago I ate there while visiting. Check the yellow pages to find their current address.

You may want to try Ella's Deli on State Street. I recommend the Chocolate Egg Creme.

Enjoy yourself.
