is this the so-called "space elevator" that everyone's talking about? . . . something to do with the new World Trade Cente perhaps? . . . ran across it on Metafilter with no text . . .

2. Maybe a sculpture by Jonathan Borowsky

He made a somehow similar sculpture for the documenta X in Kassel, called "Man walking to the sky".

Another spelling for his name is Borovsky.
