The new birth control pill
Good or bad? Progress or unnatural?

"The Food and Drug Administration yesterday approved a new type of birth control pill that enables women to skip their monthly menstrual cycle for about three months."

5. Cmon. If this weren't good for men, it wouldn't have been invented.
That's the usual way of things. :)

8. i think the one good thing about it..
is that the more periods you have increases your chances of reproductive cancers-ovarian, breast etc.

because women are not have as many children, breast feeding longer, and having their periods earlier (which is possibly linked with the hormones pumped into animals raised for their meat) they have more cycles during their lifetime.

personally i like having my period show up. it means im healthy. and i got it when i was fourteen and my cycles are a bit longer than usual (usually around 31 days).

and im waiting for a pill for guys. most think their contribution to the birth control issue is pulling out. but until then wild clover might be something to look into. male sheep who eat it consistantly have a lower sperm count. when they stop eating it, their sperm count goes back up.

9. Great!
Take it from a professional, but this is the best thing to hit medical care since anaesthesia.

A number of us have been using birth control pills "off label" for years by "Tri-cycling". Basically, we advise patients to take active pills for three months while skipping the placebos, and taking a one week break at the end of the three months. This regime does wonders for common gynecological problems like fibroids, endometriosis, and ovarian cysts.

The preliminary reports from Europe - where these pills have been available for years - suggest that they can also lower the risk of ovarian and uterine cancer.

Of course if a woman smokes and is over the age of thirty-five: fergetaboutit. Taking any kind of estrogen-containing birth control pills can kill you.

10. Almost as Good as An Ablation
Never could tolerate the Pill, and an ablation doesn't require any fucking around with hormones. But for those who want to be fertile sometime, Seasonale is a great thing.

12. I never like the pill and I don't mind having a period,
so I guess I'm just not part of the market for this product.
