I would rather do jail time than to be drafted ... thats my opinion ...
I just talked to my mom a couple of minutes ago about the plans for Dubya's Draft and I decided that I would rather do jail time than to have a weapon placed in my hand to kill another innocent soul . I would rather harm myself . I am taking this talk of the draft seriously even if I am female because I do not put anything past Bush and Company . My Conscientious Objector letter has been in my backpack for over a year now ... call me crazy but I am not putting anything past this administration . Look at what they have done thus far . Bastards .

1. That's my plan too
I'm a 19 year old female; if * wins and has a draft, I will probably be affected. I will not leave this country...no matter how bad it is now, I still love America and want to make America the America that it should be.
I'll sit in a jail cell.

I love my country too much to leave ... I would rather sit in a jail cell , as long as they give me pen and paper to write my thoughts down I am fine .

4. That's exactly what I've told my kids
my daughter, who's 20, and my son, 23. I'd much rather see them in prison and alive than risk having them killed (if not literally, then emotionally) in some bushwar.

Besides, how many people can they house in prison? If everyone refused to go to war... what would they do, start up the firing squads?

7. Exactly
If everyone chooses the same option , they will be out of their minds . And what could they do to us ? For sure , the United Nations or someone would help us , Amnesty Internationl - goodness God , I can not believe it has come to this .

And there would be no way to get out of the country . With the information that I have read , borders are going to be tighter than ever if there is a draft .

6. I had that talk
with my sons last weekend. They have both expressed the same thoughts. They are 18 and 20 and neither one will be going. I am relieved but I hate to think of them, and you, in jail. It is better than the alternative. Neither of my boys could really be fighters.

8. Just get your mom
to get you into the National Guard, make sure you're trained with equipment that will NOT be used in Iraq, then walk away from it when you get bored, want to do some coke, or feel like drinking yourself unconscious. That way, you'll have a shot at being President some day and you can accuse anyone who criticizes your decisions as being anti-National Guard, anti-American, indecisive, and insane.

Trust me, it works. Proof in D.C.

10. Start building your case now.
A CO status can save you from prison. Get religious. Think Quaker. It might work. On the other hand jail might be safer. I went through this 30 years ago.

16. Bad memories
I got lucky in the 1970 Lottery Draft and got #276 - high enough not to have to worry about being drafted. Before I got my number I had decided and told my parents that I would go to jail rather than Canada or Vietnam. They supported my decision.

My Dad was a Colonel in the Air Force at that time and he agreed that it was the right thing to do. He was also the only person on our base who had a Eugene McCarthy flower sticker on his car.

17. Had this talk with my brother the other day...
He's 19, pretty much a walk-the-walk Christian (in a good way, not a fundie!). He voluntarily told me that he will go to jail if he gets drafted. Told him I will bake him cookies. If they draft hubby, too, I will be very lonely, and baking a LOT of cookies... :( :( :

18. be sure ya have plenty o'cigarettes....even if ya don't smoke....
....you can compare Marlboro's to an M16 in prison...they'll save yer life and your cornhole too! Prison is 10 layers o'hell...not much less traumatizin' than war...not a very logical alternative either way. x(

.....but in all seriousness...jail/prison are just as scary as goin' to war...to think otherwise is extremely ignorant...I've seen up close and personal what it'll do to a person...and it ain't a pretty picture!

23. I'd probably try to move out of the country
I'm a 25 years old and my husband is 27. We have a son who will be turning two next month. Under the current draft rules, we would not be directly effected if a draft was instituted. I don't think a single person in this country would support drafting men and women ages 18 to 34. The people of this country certainly would not quietly allow this to happen. Considering they did adjust these rules and instituted the draft, we would probably try to get out of this country. They only way I'd go to jail is if I was allowed to bring my whole family with me. I will not abandon my child under any circumstances. He is far more important to me than anything else in this life.
