44. Kathy and Mo did a hilarious skit about it. If men had periods...
...menstruation would be about the most awesome event on the planet. And it would be all about tampon sizes. Only real men would use super size Tampax.

Pads, tampons, midol, and birth control pills would be fully covered by health insurance and employees would get 5 paid "personal days" each month.

look at our underwear NOW... On second thought... don't. I don't think any of us men would wear a pad, but you can bet you ass there'd be a lot more guys wearing red jeans to work everyday.

6. Just think...lots of moaning and groaning and cold compresses
sick days, demands for breakfast in bed, laying on the couch for days, gnashing of teeth, woe is me, don't you feel sorry for me, I need comfort..more comfort...no more comfort.

Then when it's over total denial of being a demanding crybaby! :bounce:

8. Maybe
If men had periods, maybe a woman could finally be president. Let's just hope it's a liberal woman, not some Thatcher.

9. It's been suggested that men get kicked in the balls every 30 days
Then you'd hear grown men complaining and crying about their "monthly friend".

Not to mention afterward.

10. Why did you ask this with your sig flashing "Don't Panic"????
I like what Robin Williams said about if a woman was Pres.

Every 28 days, very INTENSE negotiations.

He also said the President of France would be calling, saying "Why are you bombing us?" and the American Pres would be "Oh, YOU KNOW WHY!"

11. It would be seen as a sign of strength rather than weakness
I have heard arguements, even recently, that women are less able to do things physically and mentally because they go through a weakening hormonal transformation every month. If men went through this, it would be seen as a sign that men were strong. They would brag about it as proof that they could handle pain and endure bleeding and handle PMS. That is how it would be if they didn't take the alternative philisophy and have sick days off every month.

I don't know about that -
I notice I'm a lot more productive - almost to the point of overworking myself - during that time of the month because hard work helps create the endorphins that ease the pain and make the "period" go by quicker.

But I guess since I also work in a man's field, working harder than everyone else around me is considered normal.

Weakening? heh. I'm hell on wheels then. Maybe just a touch more emotional - in all ways, not just weepy and bitchy, but more sensual, more compassionate.

If not for the bloating and that painful "crampy-scratchy-burning-pressing against the kidneys" feeling I get between doses of vitamin C and Cranberry Juice, I wouldn't mind having a longer period. I'd get more done.

33. Stayfrees would have pinstripes.
The "Hygiene" aisle would have a lot less pastel colors and more navy blue and burgandy colored packages.

Instead of Regular and Super and Super Plus absorbancies the tampons would be marketed as how many CC's they hold. Men would sit around in garages and say stuff like, "So how mancy CC's you run thru that thing, Harry?" "Well, Joe, I'm running a 44cc right now but..."

And I HATE to think about what the applicators would look like. I'm thinking Chrome and Leather... :) There'd be a whole new market to mechanize the whole thing. (Remember--men invented the Epilady, and any mind that would invent a machine to rip out body hair is gonna do some strange stuff when it comes to hygiene products.)

You can read it in "Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions," a compilation of her essays and articles. Yes, the Playboy bunny gig is in there, as is the article on Marilyn Monroe. There's even an attempt to interview Pat Nixon!

Right now, most of the men I know act like they have PMS three hundred and sixty-five goddam days of the year, anyway.
