I'm curious about putting some of my designs and photos up there, it shouldn't cost me a thing according to the stuff I read...

1. My radio station uses it..
It's not bad; for getting your name out there on product it's pretty good, but I really haven't made any money on it..

2. I have one rant with CafePress
It's a dumb one, but pissed me off.

I do all my banking online and haven't balanced a bankbook in ages. I bought a tee-shirt from cafepress about a month ago (not from DU). Their products are nice and have held up well over the years (I've bought several things from CP).

Well I bought this t=shirt about a month ago and it took about 10 days to deliver. THing is, they did not charge my account until it shipped and I paid for it with my debit card. Since I do all banking online & don't keep a paper balance in my check book, I was off with my checking account, forgot about that purchase and overdrawel my account. Luckily I have overdraft protection and the money came from savings

:grr:

Minor complaint.

3. Standard for reputable businesses
Most online businesses don't charge your card until your item is ready to ship... otherwise, everyone bitches about the big company taking your money from you a few days early and earning interest while you PAY finance charges (or at least lose the opportunitty to earn 0.3% on your $13.95).

You can try CafePress by buying some FW goodies if you like... just a suggestion

4. It doesn't cost a thing but unless you sell a lot you don't make a thing

either. I sold a few items from my shop (http://www.cafeshops.com/impracticaljoke in case you're curious) during the first six months. Got an email from them to the effect that since I hadn't made $25 in royalties, they were eating them. To be fair, they would have let me apply my royalties to purchases from Cafe Press, but still. I ranted about it at the time, but without the archives, I can't link to that thread. In summary, it's a hoot, but don't expect to make any money unless you have really outstanding promotional skills and commensurate quantities of time on your hands.

PS: The way they tell you this is to send you a notice that they're going to start charging a $25. monthly fee. I yelled and screamed and they sent back email apologizing for the confusion and saying that no, I wouldn't be charged $25 (monthly or otherwise) but that the situation is as described above. Was more than a little alarming and off-pissing.
