Did anyone else go to see "Control Room"...

...and find themselves, halfway through the film, outside of the theatre, breaking down in tears?

I am so heartbroken... the war is futile, senseless, hopeless, and destroying so many people..

:puke:

1. I saw it on TV
I have a whole new level of respect for Al Jazeera now. It was so good to see the war from a real Arab perspective.

2. It was an "excellent" movie

in that it was educational...

It was too much for me, though... Such overwhelming *hopelessness* it made me feel...

7. I think that it shows that there is hope
as long as there are people in this world that are willing to risk life and limb to report the facts to the world. Yes, it's a sad movie, but the very fact that such a movie has come out and is being seen is a very good thing. Don't let it get you down too much, there is always hope for a better tomorrow.

3. no, but i dropped a ton of f-bombs..
and everyone else in the theater just shook their heads, and sighed in disbelief, especially during the Rumsfield scenes. I was so pissed after watching that film, even more than I was after watching F911.

4. This definitely affected me more than f911

I guess I was surprised, by how much it did... guess Moore is too much of a clown to deal a big emotional impact to me... though i love him a great deal...

I really hope people don't blame the soldiers coming home for the things they see going on...

5. I've not seen Control Room (I have ordered the DVD)
but I think it may have affected you more than F911 because it is the war from a perspective we are not privy to in the land of the bought press, USA. I have a feeling that there is a small part of us that hopes that Al Jazeera was wrong but when it is there on the big screen, it can be difficult for some to accept that these things are being done by the US military. That there seems so little US media opposition to *'s policies is also depressing.

10. the violence was just so incessant and meaningless...

and i felt terrible for both sides, the iraqi victims with their rage and senseless death, the young american troops who are being forced to do things that will haunt them for the rest of their lives...

it's just the nature of *war* you know... so futile...

i really, have very little hope, that this war will end any time soon...

9. It's a movie about al jazeera and the events leading up to gulf war II
in addition to the beginning of the occupation.

8. Is it out on dvd yet?
My little city isn't going to play that here. They on ran F9-11 because it was a good moneymaker after all.

11. What surprised me the most
was that the reporters for Al Jeerez have so much confidence in the American Constitution prevailing over the current administration. There was a lot that surprised me in this documentary, but this optimism really struck me.

13. I saw it and thought it was actually the best documentary I've
seen this year. Better than F911, Outfoxed, Hunting..., etc.

I left depressed too. When you realize that Al Jazeera is no more slanted (and perhaps less so) than our own cable news channels, you really do lose all hope that the average American citizen will ever know the real truth about the world around them.
