My power and phone service has been off for a week

Because of the damage from Hurricane Ivan. I woke up this morning with a light on, damn this has been a miserable experience although I know We were lucky here in Mobile Al.

The awful thing is my next door neighbor was killed yesterday while he was cutting down a storm damaged tree. Part of the tree feel and crushed him so the excitement of getting power back on is not what it would have been for our street.

We had a lot of tree damage and 1 broken window and no phone or power for a week but that's about all, others weren't so lucky.

so scary when you are cleaning up after one of these monster storms.

A National Guard was one of the only two killed on Kauai when Hurricane Iniki hit as a cat 5 on 9/11/92..when he was helping with the cleanup..from a powerline.

It tooks months for our power and water to come back. Which now seems like another life. But all these Hurricanes from the Atlantic have brought back the scenes.

Glad it's over and you are on the mend.

3. feel for you

our power was off for a week this past winter due to an ice storm in the DC area. No power = no water since we are on a well.

I hope you could at least take a shower before work . . .:hi:

I talked to a realty company on Dauphin Island yesterday and she said most of the island is without water and power.

5. Wow, that's terrible about your neighbor

I lived just outside of Mobile (Theodore) in the early 80's. Very pretty city, I loved it. I'm glad you came through it okay.
