I'm Feeling So Sick Today...
My god....I am so sick. I'm miserable lying in bed with a hell of a sore throat, and I tried to drink tea with honey earlier today but I threw the tea back up. I went to the campus center a little while ago, and they weren't serving chicken noodle, and they don't sell soup in the campus center store.

I'm almost at the point of tears, and I need to go back out and get some chicken soup. I feel like I'm at death's door.

1. Ewww, I sure hope you start feeling better
You sound like you're miserable. Hey, my daughter loves those Campbell's "Soup at Hand" things. They make chicken noodle. :(

2. Slink, If you can't see a campus doc, go directly to an emergency room
Edited on Sun Sep-19-04 10:29 AM by MrScorpio
If you can't do that, call 911

Like , right now

This could be food poisoning.

I'm serious

10. I ate a bad can of soup a while back
and your symptoms sound like mine

Besides: Food poisoning occurs more commonly than what is reported.

You should have it checked out by a doctor.

4. Hope you get some comfort Fast!
When I start to feel sick I take some golden seal..it's nature's antibiotic. It's always handy..when you get better try finding out about it at your local health food store.

Speedy recovery, slink!

5. My Chinese doctor says NO TEA FOR SORE THROATS
Yeah, crazy eh? A Chinese doctor saying don't drink tea! But seriously, he said that while tea may feel good going down, the tannic acid in the tea is a throat irritant and anything hot will make the tissues swell more in the long run. You're much better off drink cool drinks - soft drinks, juices, -ades (Kool-Ade, Crystal Lite, etc.)

For heaven's sake, don't you have a friend that can go pick some things up for you?

15. My very favorite
sore throat remedy is the juice of one lemon, tablespoon of honey and a shot of brandy. Microwave for about 30 seconds.

It really does take the edge off the pain.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

16. sorry to hear that ...
make sure you drink tons of fluids ...

i really like an over-the-counter product called Cold-eeze ... it contains zinc and has really helped me stay cold free for years ... it probably would be worth trying some ...

there are also some OTC analgesic sprays you can get to numb your throat a bit ...

hang in there ... get some rest ...

19. There's an herbal tristane called "Throat Coat"
It's not tea so doesn't have tannic acid. Also it's incredibly soothing on the throat. I bought it at Safeway.

My mother always brought coca-cola and soft boiled eggs and crackers to me when I was sick. A little hard to fix if you are very sick. Can you call a friend?

I don't know about your college health services. Ours were on campus, only $6 for the visit, and didn't require an appointment. If you have something similiar, go early tomarrow. Maybe they can help you out. Until then rest and have people check on you.

26. Ginger can help w/ the nausea. I always keep a bottle of
ginger capsules on hand - can get them at any health food store.

Also, it sounds nasty, but I take cloves of garlic, cut up and swallowed like a pill. It's a natural antibiotic and has some antiviral properties as well. I swear it works - I take it when I first feel the flu coming on and I never get really sick. Kind of nips it in the bud.

Also good, citrus juices, Vit C, Zinc. Depends on your symptoms. Rest, drink plenty of fluids (helps flush the body of toxins) and make sure you have someone to call in case things get worse. Hope you feel better soon!
