Looking to buy a new game console
My daughter has a Gamecube, and I'm looking to add another one. Should I go PS2 or XBox? What are the pros and cons of each?

1. well....I don't know if it counts, but I really like PS2, because I am not
really good at games, and yet I do okay on Playstation. My 6 year old son is a master at it, and they do have a great selection. The Crash Bandicoot and Simpsons games are great. :hi:

2. PS2
I think they have a larger library than X-Box, also if you have small hands, you might have a hard time holding the X-Box controllers. Plus, the less I give to Microsoft, the better

3. PS2 is generally more reliable, but XBox has the better games, imho
I've played several games on both PS2 and Xbox, and I find they just "make sense" more often on the XBox (at least with the controls).

My only complaint with the XBox is that after you use it for several hundred hours, the DVD drive busts and occasionally your game will freeze with a screen of "There is something wrong with your game disc. It may be dirty or damaged" and it always just happens right after you draft that 88 OVR halfback with the number one overall pick in Madden 2005... arr

4. Oh - and you can commit the ultimate ironic act with XBox
That's right, you can http://www.xbox-linux.org/>install GNU/Linux on your Microsoft XBOX. Yeah, you can do it with Sony, but you have to buy this crap from Sony and it's not free (as in speech nor as in beer).

Plus, XBOX pluralizes much better into pseudo-Deutsch... die Xboxen.

5. Yes.
I have felt your pain, my friend.

But, yeah, I generally like the games on the XBox better. I .. uh ... actually have a Gamecube, a PS, a PS2, and an Xbox. I swear I am not a nerd! I swear! They just keep making games that I like on systems that I don't have and ... you know ... I have no self control!

10. I love good old fashioned RPGs like earlier Final Fantasies, so...
which system offers a better variety?
I haven't been keeping up with games lately, I rent for old PS once in a while but browsing around on other aisles/systems - seems like there are very few good ole rpgs...

I Detest the ones that get so dialogue heavy and theatreish - I just wanna slaughter orcs and get gold and neat artifacts and stuff.

7. I'm hardly an expert
I hear PS2 has more genres and games, where XBox has great graphics. My kid bought himself an XBox with his birthday money.

Then Dad waits till he goes to bed and plays Halo!
