On a whim where would you like to live?
I've got a real hankering to move to Helsinki right now.

1. Why do you want to know????
Just kidding. On a whim, I'd move to Portland, Oregon (if I didn't have to worry about getting a job), Boston, possibly NYC, but I'm kinda afraid to live there, Oslo, Norway or London.

With lots of side trips to cool places in Europe.

Oh I'm also fairly certain I'd live in Vancouver or Toronto.

40. I'm dying for NZ!
I was married there a year ago and I still dream of moving to Queenstown. I love Wellington; the Oriental Parade was the most delightful place ever. I'm just afraid Wellington is going to experience the big one someday soon, I just rather not be there when it happens.

We plan on winning Powerball within the next few months, so we'll start packing fairly soon. They'll take a few smarmy Americans if we give them a cool mil right?

Ive been there quite a few times, a long time ago, and loved the friendly people and their beautiful country. Plus most of the dutchies there speak better english than americans. France or Canada would be my next choice.

next door to my parents, hope to be there for them in their latter years so I would not like to move right now. In the future? Maybe moriarty, NM or Lone Pine, CA. Used to live in Ridgecrest, CA and liked it as well.

How about places I would not like to move to - Trona, CA or Needles, CA :)

Out of country - New Zealand.

33. Trona...lol
No one goes to Trona who doesn't have to, and no one lives there who doesn't work in the chemical plant. An exaggeration, but not by much. I think it's the ever present, inescapable smell of sulphur on the air. Have you ever seen the high school football field? All dirt. They can't grow grass.

If I was a fugitive needing an out-of-the-way place to hide out, Trona might be high on my list.

The armpit of California.

58. You have trona pegged :)
I have some photos floating around of it I took last time I was there. If I find them will toss em up on the web server. That place is downright weird. I knew a few people from the area and I would swear the chemicals did something to their brains...

I used to work for KRAJ radio - some weird but cool folk there as well. Will be heading out there in December and I am planning on heading to Trona for some more pics.

I was there 15-20 years ago or so, several times, when my boys played football. We did a yearly trek to the highschool football field when Trona was the home team (youth football, not highschool; a larger region).

I'll look for your pics; after all, my info is a decade or two old. Trona may have become a garden paradise! ;-)

What's funny is that I've never actually been anywhere in Vermont, and only through it once when I was like six years old. Though I did spend a week in Claremont, NH during the NH primary back in January which is right near the border. I just like what I know about Vermont. The land looks beautiful, I like cold weather, I like liberal politics... think it would be neat to spend some time there. Other places I've never been but would like to check out are Minneapolis, MN and Eugene, OR. And San Francisco and Boston for that matter...

"Thoor Cottage", Thoor, Ballylee, Gort, Co. Galway

Adjacent to the Tower. Built in the 19th century & recently updated, though retaining its charm. Rather small but has outbuildings on the half acre site. It's 22 km from Galway City. Given the size of the island, it's really not far from anywhere else in Ireland. (My sense of distance has been affected by all these years in Texas.)

Its big city, which I love, all the politics and landmarks, easy travel to NYC for occassional trips, some beautiful land nearby for trips out of the city, great arts scene, much more liberal than Texas, thriving gay scene. Just a great center for a lot of things.

I Would like to retire there in six-seven years, but I might have to move up my schedule a little if Chimpy is elected. Right now many in the world have sympathy with Americans, making a distinction between us and our government's policies. But if America "endorses" these fascist policies by keeping Chimpy in office, then the distinction between "Americans" and "American Foreign Policy" will disappear. Let's all do what we can to make sure that doesn't happen, please. Vote for sanity. Vote for America. Vote for KERRY.
