Anyone else really into The Talking Heads, The Heads, Tom Tom Club
and all the solowork and projects these great artists have done?

I'm listening to The Heads w. Malin Anneteg "No More Lonely Nights"-our musical experiment The Books Banned covered that one years ago.

Here's a pretty inclusive website all about these folks. I love most all of their work-do you?

Good points. Some bad points. It all works out... :D

Such a classic Talking Heads tune! One of my top 3! :yourock:

4. Yes. Absolutely. I like Byrne's Luaka Bop label artists too.
My fave TH album is More Songs About Building and Food, and my fave song is The Great Curve.

Last time I watched Stop Making Sense, I turned on my TV's closed-captioning hoping it would have the lyrics and was disappointed there was no closed-captioning at all.

I have a question about the live version of Genius of Love; I can't decipher something.

It's the part where Chris is talking to the audience, "The girls can do it too, y'all!"

Before the Kurtis Blow verse, where Tina's dancing, and it begins "Who dat..." do you know how the rest of that goes?

5. Naked and Remain In Light are two of my personal favorites.
Saw Tom Tom Club open for the Ramones. Fun live group but I missed Byrne's frenetic energy.

6. I'm into anything produced by Wally Badarou
He's actually the genius behind the Tom Tom Club and some of The Talking Heads' funkier shit.

10. We just watched the video
"Stop Making Sense" last night! I wanted to show it to my son who is getting into older bands lately. It was just as good as I remembered it. He liked it a lot too.
GREAT band!!!! :D

12. Put away that gun. This part is simple. Try to recognize ...
what is in your mind.

I'm a Talking Heads fan but I stopped following their solo work many years ago... :yourock:

We need a Talking Heads poll here in the lounge... (?)

17. Huge fan
I grew up listening to them because my mom is one of the biggest Talking Heads fan I've ever known. We both went to a David Byrne concert together in DC and had a blast. I've had pretty much every album the Talking Heads have ever come out with. I can't say which one is my absolute favorite; it depends on my mood. Sometimes it is MSABAF, sometimes Life After Wartime, sometimes Little Creatures although that one is skipping a lot so I need to replace it.

18. Not a huge TH fan
although I LOVE Remain in Light.

I do, however, LOVE Jonathan Richman, whose Modern Lovers Jerry Harrison played keyboards for.

Just wish I could get Jonathan's solo stuff from the Rough Trade label. Double Chocolate Malted, indeed.

19. True Stories
Anyone else love that movie? When I'm feeling down, I'll put that in the DVD, I just love the celebration of Special-ness.

David Byrne's Luaka-Bop label is really cool, love all the Brazilian stuff, especially off of Rei Momo.

Look into the Eyeball is pretty good too, love Desconocido Soy, got me hooked on Cafe Tacuba.

20. More Songs...., Fear of Music, Remain in Light....
Edited on Thu Sep-23-04 08:25 PM by deseo
... (the Eno-produced works) are all masterpieces, Speaking in Tongues, True Stories are not bad, and most of the rest is mediocre fluff.

IMHO of course :)

The Eno/Byrne collaboration "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts" is also a masterpiece. I never really cared that much for Tom Tom Club, although I did buy their first record, that one hit was fun.
