I Live with the Spiders
My building is infested with them...especially the daddy longlegs ones...I've spent many hours constantly vacuuming them up, only to find two days later they've all been replaced by a fresh new batch...To my regret I must shamefully admit I've killed many a spider this summer, which might explain all the rain we've been having the past month and a half...I've washed many down the drain, only to find them replaced within hours by others twice their original size!

Since my apartment is halfway buried on the side of a hill I'm next to the laundry and storage room (I live in a triplex)..which is where I'm sure they come from, crawling through the cracks and vents into my humble abode...Every night a couple drop down between me and my computer monitor...I'm so used to them that whenever I find one crawling on me I just pick it off and let it go on its merry way, wishing the little fella well...sometimes giving it a little pat on the head...They are everywhere!

Now don't get me wrong! At first I denied they were a problem, after all every house has its spiders! Then I grew angry that they were here, unrelenting, unconquerable through their sheer numbers...I grew despondent in my failure to control them and spent many a night in inner anguish, with much wailing and gnashing of teeth in the wee hours before dawn, sleepless with worry that one or more would seek refuge inside my very being! :scared:

Lately though I have learned to accept them, as fellow beings worthy of my respect and admiration...With perseverance I will learn to love my spiders and I know they will in turn learn to love me...Spiders can sense things like this, I have picked up on their sentience! And once we bond telepathically I know they will be eager to serve me. I will provide for them while they do my bidding! Which is World Domination! Bwaah-ha-ha-ha-hah!

Oh...sorry about that...I got a little carried away there! What I originally wanted to know is if anybody knows of a good non-toxic way to rid my house of the little buggers! They are truly driving me crazy!!!

1. I do too
I feel like my address is 1313 Mockingbird Lane. I have them everywhere - outside, inside, webs all over thte place. Is it a NW thing? I too need something non-toxic that won't hurt my bird or cats.

It's creepy, crawly craziness around my house!:scared:

2. which is why i asked...
The cats, the neighbors, not to mention me would not like any kind of pesticide at all...I can live with things but I'm sick and tired of all these goddam spiders! They're even in my shower stall...Get rid of them, the next day they are back! Twofold!

Ever see that movie "Spiderbaby"? The interior of the house in that movie is like mine! :D Well, not really...

As far as it being a NW thing, oh probably...We live in a weird neck of the woods that is true...

3. WMD

sounds friendly.

I prefer diazanon in %25 percent outside your house. Forms a perimeter around your home, kills insects dead.

It is an organophosphate and deadly to pretty much everything, but applied correctly will keep spiders, fleas, etc, out of your home for weeks at a time. Apply on a calm, dry day, keep your pets in for a couple days.

4. Don't kill them! They won't hurt you and they eat flying bugs
by the basketfull.

I love spiders.

BTW, did you know there is no landmass on earth that you are more than 6 feet from a spider?

Well, I guess except Antarctica.

5. Spiders are great, outside. Inside they are fair game
My cats eat them. Totally organic solution.

I bust out the spectracide in the spring and the fall to keep them from invading. They get out of control here.
