So I defrosted the freezer and the cherries I froze at the beginning of the season need to be used. I've got about a pound and a half. They've been frozen, but not sugared and not canned.
I've got pie crusts I made and froze the last time I made pies and I can make a cobbler crust or pan dowdy crust.
Any other suggestions? They really do need to be baked since they have had the cell walls ruptured.
4. yeah, but I think it's a sour cherry recipe....
We tried a sweet cherry pie with a sour cherry recipe and it was... okay... but not what you'd expect. The sour cherries that you put in most pies really work with the ingredients and the sweet cherries are too sweet.
Thanks for the recipe, though, and I'll probably try that one when my ex-step-grandmother (no one ever gets out of this family alive....) sends me my birthday bottles of home canned Michigan cherries....
