Once in awhile. I like it better when it ventures outside its usual hot-rod/tiki/comics-characters-doing-deviant-shit vibe, but it's still usually quite good.

Apparently, the first printing is the ONLY printing, per Ryden's request. I'm glad I ran across it - since it went out of print so quickly, I shudder to think what it goes for on auction sites.

9. It's one of my favorites.

My brother read Hot Rod magazines back in the early 60's. I read them too, since I devoured anything that came through the house. I followed the artists as many of them went on into the psychedelic thing.

Much "serious" art has gotten into a conceptual, minimalist dead end--dry & academic. Juxtapoz is a great voice for many of the alternatives. A few years ago, one of the judges at Houston's Art Car Parade was Big Daddy Roth (now deceased). What a thrill!

And be sure to visit La Luz de Jesus next time you're in LA.
