Michigan DUers: It's that time again...
Yes, friends, 5thGenDemocrat's birthday is coming up again. This year, it falls on a Saturday, so it will be a real birthday party. Just like last year, your humble servant will be making arrangements for the party. All I need now is for 5GD to bump this with the details so we can start talking about location, number of guests, etc.

Other DUers can attest to how it went last year. I would like to see this one improve on the model.

Check in Michigan DUers!

Martin

1. Well, I'm checking in...
My birthday is still October 4. I suspect we'll still be holding this in Detroit even though you and I are both from Saginaw.
I'll presumably be bringing Polly. What else do you need to know?
John
I'll keep the hell kicked out of this in any event. Nobody responds and it's more beer for us.

3. Hello, here I am.
St Clair Shores. Saginaw would be a bit of a drive, but if it were a really cool party I'd be up for it.;-) On the other hand, Detroit is right next door. Let me know if I could do something to help. I really would look forward to meeting some fellow DUers.

4. I'm in Warren
I'm up for any party in the Detroit metro area. I also go to GR a lot. Lansing might be a good place for a party, since it's in the middle of the state. El Axteca is always good.

5. I love Detroit and I had a swell time last year
So I have no problem coming downstate for the get-together. It is, after all, only 100 miles.
Judging by the time, Martin (3rd shift) is sleeping right now, so I'll bump this again. Mr Schreader lives in northwest Detroit (not far from Grand River and Lahser) and we had last year's soiree at Mamma Mia's at Grand River and Beech-Daly (Polly had a three friends of hers from the F**ked Company site attend, two of whom were Repubs and one of whom drove all the way from GR -- they wound up having a good time, too, despite being outnumbered ten-to-one or so).
I'm open to suggestions and maybe it would be more fun to hold the get-together on the East Side (or even downtown) this year. All DUers who attended the bash last year, or the few others from MI who came to FUNDAY last June are encouraged to come. I've never met either of you, Mrs G and noonwitch, and surely would like to. It's still almost four weeks away, so keep this bumped and we'll all meet then.
John
Ain't no party like a DEE-troit party.

6. John, Martin, everyone
Marcos checking in-

I am definitely interested. I had a great time at Funday and I would love to see you all again. (Has it really been three months??)

7. Aye, and for sure
The Detroit get-together won't be on the scale of FUNDAY but it also wouldn't be as cool if you didn't show up. Still waiting to get an Amen from some of last year's Motown attendees.
Everything okay with you, Marcos? Things are great in Saginaw -- but things are always great in Saginaw.
John
It is now 283 days, 23 hours and 31 minutes to FUNDAY X. Hope to see you in Detroit before then.

9. You know it.
Everything is good here John, thanks for asking. I am down for any moderately controlled mayhem that we can get into on your birthday.

Let me know.

BTW- Let me message you my phone number. I still have yours in my wallet from June.

10. Date: October 4
Which is a Saturday. Looks like we're getting a majority of East Siders this year -- so feel free to nominate some good places to eat in Warren, or the Pointes or Roseville or whatever.
John
Martin will be coordinating this party -- he should be back on line in a couple of hours. The best part of the party last year was meeting all the DUers. I think I'm up to about a dozen I've actually partied with now, between FUNDAY and the Detroit bash last year and a trip to Davsand's in Illinois in December 1991.

I'm usually awake until about 3 p.m., so messages sent to me until then can be answered relatively quickly.

I can't even seem to coordinate Marty's nap time.
John
Marty, with your work sked, do you work Friday night/Saturday morning or Sunday night/Monday morning. This makes a difference on our getting down there and doing the Value World/second-hand diving thing.

21. This is a vicious LIE!! 5thGen does NOT age!
I am shocked and apalled to hear anyone say the 5thGenDem gets any older. I consider this a vicious rumor and nothing short of some conspiracy theory designed to demoralize those of us who rely on John's countdown to FunDay as a way of marking time...

I will vouch for the food at that particular restaurant, however. I was fortunate enough have enjoyed a meal or two from there when I was at Marty's last June. As I recall, I ate like a pig and had zero regrets about it. Anyone who can get there oughtta do it.

What's not to like?

Birthday party for 5GD somewhere in the Detroit area (more than likely anyway)

-It's on a Saturday this year

-Quality folks like John, Martin, Polly and other DU'ers

-Mayhem

Ok, the only thing that could possibly make this better would be the Tigers playing in October but hey, ya can't have everything!

So anyone else who is interested PLEASE CHECK IN!

Marcos-
