1. Salt is the most essential.
Just about everything needs some salt.

Not as much as most people in this country put on stuff, but some. ;)

15. I agree. Without salt
everything would taste like bland hospital food. Yuck. I like a lot of other seasonings but if I had to pick just one it would be salt.

5. Geez -- There are Too Many
The single most useful seasoning IMO is Paul Prudhomme's Vegetable Magic. But it's not a separate seasoning.

Personally, the seasonings I like and use over and over are: garlic, powdered chicken stock, ginger, sesame oil, sugar, and for dressings, dry mustard and dill.

It goes in everything, and plenty of it. Not garlic salt or garlic powder but fresh garlic. Yummy!!
