4. I'm the only Avant user?
Amazing. Internet Explorer with tabbed browsing and mouse gestures. I loved Firefox, but couldn't cope with the fact that there are still designers out there who don't code for browser independence. It really irritates me, but not a battle I choose to fight.

15. it is very good
Loads pages faster than IE with an accelerator. Uses less system resources. It seems to be everthing I thought firefox would be but faster and easier to use. Thanks.

18. Another Avant User Here
Did I introduce you to Avant Browser? Or did you introduce me to it?

I remember that someone HERE told me about it, then I passed it on to someone else here as well.

I normally browse with scripts disabled, applets disabled, activex disabled and flash disabled. But when I need to turn them on (say... for the Jib-Jab thing) the on/off toggles are right there directly under the "Tools" drop-down menu.

When I used IE, these settings were "hidden" deep within a tabbed dialog box that required searching and scrolling through a long list of other settings. That made these setting very difficult to turn on and off and control let level of risk that one wants to take while browsing.

-- Allen

P.S. I also like the ability to search for and HIGHLIGHT words on a page with the built-in search button.

5. Netscape, Mozilla or that Firefox is the best depending on which one
of those suits your needs for e-mail, etc.

I've used Netscape for 7 years and never gotten a virus or had spam...and I'm a Computer Clueless. But, I do keep my Anti-Virus current and use AdAWARE and Spybot.

I use Earthlink for ISPN (I know they are outsourcing overseas) but in all that time surfing everywhere, I've not been afflicted with what I hear lots of DU'ers complaining about. I don't use Internet Explorer either unless a site demands it. I use Real Audio and QT (I know people think RA is crap and messes up their system) but no problems..here..

6. Firefox.. so far, I love it
It took a while to get use to of course. But I don't get any pop ups, I don't seem to get those mysterious changes of settings, where the search engine is now set to simplify for some other crap. Explorer has started doing another weird thing for me, always opening up the search box on the side when I open the browser or start a new page. I've done EVERYTHING to fix it. I just hate it. Firefox has been great so far. No complaints whatsoever.

9. I use Firefox most of the time but I still need IE
Unfortunately, the evil, crappy, bu$h*-loving university proprietary network's e-mail system won't recognize anything but exploder, so I have to use exploder for e-mail.:grr::mad:

I use Firefox for everything else, though.:)

10. Check out this extension -- I love it
http://ieview.mozdev.org/

IEview lets you open your current page or a link in IE. It's absolutely the cat's ass, and best of all lets you appreciate Firefox more when you return to it.

This is another one I like, all it does is randomly change "Firefox" on the title bar to something else at random. Right now I'm using Mozilla Turboporcupine.

14. Firefox and Konqueror
Firefox for nearly everything. Konqueror for the rare site that Firefox won't open. As far as I know, these are my only options since I no longer run Windoze.

The only downside so far is Movielink.com. They have a proprietary agreement with MS and I am now unable to rent and view their movies with Linux. Does anyone know of an alternative site?
