Worst SNL moments?
Edited on Tue Sep-28-04 08:49 PM by Archae
Ok, we have the best of SNL, now how about the worst?

Even during the "glory days" of Belushi, Ackroyd, Murray, etc, they had some real clinkers.

Like TV writer Buck Henry as the pedophile uncle.

And I might get flamed, but I detested Jon Lovitz's "lying guy."

1. ugh, that pedophile skit
definitely a low point in SNL history. About as funny as Chester the Molester. :puke:

3. Anything Post 9/11
They not only were neutered, they became besotted with inside jokes.

They are complete and utter crap.

MadTV--although avoiding politics, has been much funnier for much longer.

Why the love for SNL? Simple, it's NYC based and folks are programmed to think that anything from NYC is good
(Sex and the City, Seinfeld, Sopranos--nearby at least, Curb your enthusiasm, Friends) Anything NOT set in and around NYC has a much harder time of it.

Larry David = Seinfeld

Nebish is as nebish does.

;)

To clarify for all those who wish to question my rant--

Which shows have consistently won emmys

MadTV is still head a shoulders above the self-congratulatory tripe of SNL

14. Cute :)
Sorry, I'd still sit and watch MadTV rather than watch SNL at gunpoint

7. yeah. Frasier didn't last long
Edited on Tue Sep-28-04 09:22 PM by mlle_chatte
nor has ER, the CSI franchise seems to be unsuccessful, the X-files, 6 Feet Under, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Cheers...oh I could go on, but that would just seem bitchy

Mad TV used to be good, but they're into some major league suckage and have been, since the show became that one note, extra long, fake korean asshole character and the overgrown asshole kid character skits. I mean I guess they don't teach them how to end sketches any more at Harvard. Both shows have suffered from overly-long, embarassingly unfunny skits and repeat characters. :puke:

Edit: spell bad

5. Debbie Downer
I just think it's bad form to bust up in the middle of a sketch. It's somewhat acceptable for guests like Michael Jordan, but not for ensemble members...

9. Jimmy Fallon as Weekend update anchor.
What the fuck were they thinking? He was never WU anchor material? What did the producers just stick him in so the teenyboppers would have something to ogle or something.

Fucking teeneyboppers. Somedays I feel like rounding em all up and having them slaughtered en masse for the good of American culture.

11. Christopher Walken's "The Continental" skits! Ugh!
He's been guest host way too many times, and his rapacious Continental guy bits are terribly un-funny, and they go on forever.

God, that was horrid. Like looking at a bad car accident.
