4. That would be about the minimum at a store.
they go up to about 70-80, but are much more in restaurants. A guest who knows will be impressed too.

And was quite impressed.

Hmm... I'll certainly consider it.

8. It wouldn't be that much.
Even at Chez Panisse you can get a nice one for around 100 or less.
It is an all time favorite wine.

Best Regards!

3. Egri Bikaver.
It's a Hungarian red, full-bodied. The name means Bull's Blood. It's NOT a wine for just sipping, it needs to be eaten with food. Great with goulash. I also love it with turkey dinners, as in at Thanksgiving.

6. Marques de Caceras
From Spain. They have at least two available in the US (a white and a red). Both are good, both are dirt cheap-- under $10/bottle.

If you're looking for good quality and not much $$, check out Spanish wines. Most liquor stores have at least a minimal selection, and most of them are around $10-$15/bottle at most.

7. Coonwara Estates Shiraz (don't remember the year--1999? 2000?)
Australian, about $22 CDN a bottle.

Extremely good and rich and unsubtle. As you can tell, I know my wine terminology.

11. Pacific Peak is my house wine
I have a small restaurant & that's what I stock.

Napa, very reasonably priced & good to boot.

I have a soft spot for Mondavi only because I toured the vineyard on a beautiful, crisp autumn day.

One of the Kodak moments of my life... Driving through Napa as the sun was setting & the full moon was rising. Sigh.

12. Garnet Westside Red
surprising blend from California - and ~$14 a bottle. Tried at a wine tasting and fell in love with it...

Also, Cosentino Winery Sangiovese - milder than the Westside, but just as good, and about the same price.

Good wine does not have to be expensive - or brand name.

13. mmmm
Real German Rieslings, Gerurztraminers and Muscats from the Alsace, Merlots from just about anywhere, but the Chilean and Australians are inexpensive - same with Shiraz. Some good whites from there too. Have heard great things about Spanish wines too, but haven't tried any but the sparkling one that comes in the black bottle (forget the name and its not bad)

And its getting to be wine season again. Anybody been to Germany and tried Federwieser? YUMMY -- still fizzing and fermenting grape juice - delicious, slightly alcoholic real fruit soda. Its really good!

14. Smoking Loon California Syrah, year unimportant
If you intend to drink your wine, rather than stand around swirling it, this is a good one. If you want to impress someone with how much you paid for your wine, this won't do it.

Bring it along on a picnic; use it to wash down primitive hunter-gatherer type foods. It's cute and comfortable.

And, really, what's wrong with that?

pretty much if it has alcohol in it I like it.

I am not a discriminating wine drinker, sorry.

Fruity tasting? Berry tasting? Screw top lid? LOL.

18. A good Mondavi
I like Merlot and Pinot and if I can find it a delicious Sautern with some pate d foie gras

I'm not fond of white wine but if I'm having something that absolutely calls for it I'll have a pinot grecio or Fume blanc. Mondavi has a nice selection of wine from very inexpensive to pretty pricey. For me you can't go wrong with Mondavi.

I never knew a thing about wine until I met my partner. She's French and they know wine. I only drink wine with meals. I'm not a drinker.
