My neighbors hate Smirky!
While I was lazing around listening to the The Guy James Show, my husband was mowing the lawn in the back yard. Part of our yard borders on the back yard of our neighbors, a married couple who emigrated from Germany over 20 years ago. They asked my husband if he minded if they trimmed a few branches that were hanging over their side of the fence, & my husband told me that he has no idea how they got onto the subject, but all of the sudden they were talking politics. They hate * with a passion. She was holding up her middle finger & saying "fuck bush, fuck rumsfeld, fuck cheney", & called * "Hitler". They said they only watch the news from Germany, & that they really miss Clinton. My husband said he was totally surprised to find that they felt this way, & that they talked for almost an hour. He gave them some Dean literature, too.:-)

5. I don't know
I know there's no way to get German news on the cable system here--they'd have to have satellite.

7. There are lots of ways to get German news in the US
The internet of course, but also, DirecTV offers several news shows in German. It's also possible to get Der Spiegel (imagine a combo of the NYT's and Time Mag.) here, though it's expensive. You can also read it online for free (if you speak German) at: http://www.spiegel.de/

I thought I saw an english version of the site one time, but now I can't find it. Maybe you could babblefish it, but I'm not sure how good that would work.

2. My neighbors are also German immigrants who left Germany
after WWII (on the other side unfortunately is an old Freeper) But they are very anti-Bush and see many parrellels to life in Germany just prior to Hitler's reign. It is interesting to speak to someone who loves their country and heritage and knows when it's deja vu all over again.

3. That is exactly what I think
If anyone is qualified to make a judgment on whether or not * is similar to Hitler, it's Germans.

4. My daughter's mother-in-law
left Germany as a bride. She and her American-born husband both hate Bush. I am SO glad that we have the same political opinions.

6. It's really interesting how you don't know your neighbors
When I put a Clinton Gore sign on my lawn in 1992 my neighbors whom I thought were really conservative expressed a very postive attitude toward the signs. It was surprising to me that my neighbor who I thought was very conservative was so pro-Clinton.

8. Kudos to your neighbors!
It only takes one story like this to cancel out the bad karma I get constantly hearing about *'s "popularity".
