1. Thanks for posting this
I love character actors. They are so much more interesting to watch than leads.

Steve Buscemi and William H. Macy were character actors and still are great but they have become more mainstream now.

I think he's dead now, but he was the prison warden in "Cool Hand Luke", the payroll carrier in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid", and about a zillion more movies. He was also on Gunsmoke alot. RIP Strother....YOU ROCKED!

6. Speaking of prison wardens
The warden from "Shawshank Redemption" is always good in every movie I've seen him in.

17. Actually, I think Johnny Depp has morphed
into a decent character actor (please don't flame me) lately. On the order of Brando--a movie star who could pretty much do it all. It's a shame he has to carry that 21 Jump Street cross with him the rest of his career.

18. Stanley Kamel...
I have enjoyed his character portrayals on television and in the movies for over 4 decades, now.

He must be an intensely private man. I can find little in biographical information on him.

My favorite character actor....

24. Edward Everett Horton, Franklin Pangborn, Robert Benchley,
Margaret Dumont, and many more...but especially my long-time, all-time favorite, Charles Lane:

He's been in so many movies and shows for so many decades - and looked pretty old already in most of them - that I'm happy to report he is still alive.

I didn't realise he had such an extensive CV-I just saw him be Weyoun then Brunt on DS9 then found out he played the alien who wanted a Kira love slave in the hollodeck and now he's got a recurring role on Enterprise-I finally saw him in normal person drag on CSI!
