What's your comfort food?
I was home from work sick yesterday and made myself some Chicken Noodle-o soup. It wasn't quite the same as having my momma there to tuck me in but it sure made me feel better.

I'm reheating the leftovers right now for lunch and it made the think about comfort foods and how much I miss my momma'a cooking.

So, what do you crave when you're sick or depressed or miss your momma or just need comfort food?

Here's mine:
- homemade macaroni and cheese (even better if it's the Texas shaped pasta)
- pot roast
- meatloaf - I may have been the only kid in history who would beg their mom to make meatloaf
- homemade brownies - sometimes if I was a good girl I'd wake up to the smell of brownies in the oven...mmm...

God I'm hungry now. :-)

4. My mom's gyoza.
Japanese dumplings, for those not in the know. I've had them in restaurants, and have had other people's mom make them, but no one's are as good as mom's. :9

6. soup
In no particular order, when sick any one of these three are yummy.

1) scripelle - Italian chicken soup with crepes

2) chicken pho soup - Vietnamese spicy chicken soup. This stuff burns the germs right out of you.

3) avgolemono (sp?) - Greek chicken soup with lemon, raw egg and orzo.

is good comfort to me! Yes, I know it's not food, but THE BEST EYE CANDY makes me forget how bad I feel, not to mention his ever-interesting choice of subject matter.

Foods:
Chocolate - in all its incarnations.
Hot Tea - especially in the evening.
Glass of red wine - same effect as Hot tea
Cornbread - love fresh, hot cornbread straight from the oven. Spread a little butter and honey on top.... :9

edit: I'm very pleased with myself that this is a short list. I've worked very hard the last few years to cut down on emotional eating.

9. I think mine vary from occasion to occasion.
Sometimes, it's traditional (American) Jewish foods -- matzoh ball or chicken noodle soup, kugel, chopped liver.

When I get too stressed, it's tough for me to force much food down at all except (oddly) sushi.

The properties of a potato and a glass of milk will put a person to sleep within half an hour. Really. Even more so if you add turkey.

22. Toro also known as Fatty Tuna
I love it and can never get enough of it. Unfortunately the Toro served State side is not fit to eat so I can only get it when I go home to visit my parents.
