I have always loved Michael J. Fox.
I practically idolized this guy as a kid. I don't entirely know why. I thought he was funny as Alex P. Keaton. I love him as Marty McFly in Back to the Future. One of my favorite trilogies of all time. Star Wars is up there too. I loved those first four seasons on Spin City when he was on there. He always seemed likeable. I was really disheartened when I found out that he has Parkinson's. I am glad that he is trying to push forward to end this disease. For himself and others. Celebrity political opinions shouldn't matter, but I am so glad that he is supporting John Kerry. Hopefully Kerry will win and we can start enacting serious stem-cell research to help with all of the diseases out there, including his.

1. I like him too
and he is a smart, charismatic proponent of stem-cell research.

2. His movies have a calming influence on me...
Stuff like Doc Hollywood, Secret of My Success, and even Bright Lights, Big City have a strange, calmative effect on me. You just know that nothing's going to go TOO far wrong, i guess. And he does always come across as a guy it would be fun to hang out with...

Can't vouch for "Teen Wolf" though... have avoided it thus far.

3. He swayed one Bush voter I know...
One of my Dad's older friends has Parkinson's, but he was supporting Bush, until he saw the MJFox stem-cell speech from the Kerry event, and he realized that Kerry is the man for the job.

I suspect he's not the only one.

So, now instead of this guy's house being a Kerry/Bush wash (might as well stay at home), it's going to be TWO votes for Kerry in Ohio! Booyah!

Also, last night I dropped off FOUR Kerry yardsigns for my Dad's brother-in-law and three of his neighbors in a largely Repub neighborhood. When all four signs spring up overnight, that will be very cool!

4. the good thing about having Michael J. Fox on our side is . . .
that people genuinely love the guy . . . both as an actor, and as an activist dealing with a progressively debilitating condition with style and grace . . . while most celebrity endorsements don't mean squat, his does . . .
