it's a wind-up key that Karen and KKKarl use to keep him wound up. It would pass muster on the second debate, as well -- he was all 'het up' early on, then calmed down, after attempting to go Medieval on Charlie Gibson. His spring just wound down, after that.

9. I don't know why he won't just tell us what it is.

I'm really curious. If it's something innocent and easy to explain, I'd think they would do it. Or maybe they're just counting on this going away quietly. It's not as if mainstream media will harp on it and keep the story alive until an explanation comes forth.
