the media is in a tizzy here in Boston. There are Sox fans from all over the US cheering for this series. Where are you and why are you a Red Sox fan?

3. Red Sox nation in Illinois
My husband and I grew up in MA. We love the Sox and watched every game on Dish network this summer. I don't know if my heart can take this week with the Yankees and the last debate. I think my head is going to explode.

GO SOX!

14. Yeah the Cubbies
are the National league's Red Sox. But the Sox are the only team in our hearts. Love them.
PS But we will have in Illinois the 2 best Senators come November.

6. When the Orioles are out of it, as in the last 10 years or so, then I'm
all down with the Sox.

Spent some time living in Cambridge and have affection for the area and associated chowderheads.

Also I generally root for the historical underdog.

7. Married to a Red Sox fan
It's hell. He's fit to be tied this time of year. Towards the end of the last season he was standing behind a doorway in the living room, peering at the TV with one eye. "I can't bear to look!"

This year my son, now five, has taken to rooting for the Yankees. If this keeps up he's putting himself through college. "Here's a spatula, kid--start flipping."

8. I'm a Red Sox fan because it doesn't really matter to the Rockies.
Yeah, I still like the Rockies, and I want them to win, but it's pretty frustrating. I picked the Sox because I had really hoped to attend Harvard. I got into Penn instead, and decided to go to Toronto. But once you're with the Sox, you can't get off the bus!

Sox all the way man!!!

9. Go BoSox
Im in Philly, but I lived in Boston for 5 years in my early 20's. I used to live in Kenmore Square and used to love watching the sox games on mute, with the windows open. I was so close to Fenway I could hear everything but the announcers. GO SOX!!!!

12. Did you go to school in Boston?
You would not recognize the new, gentrified Kenmore Square. I used to hang out at the Rat when I was a teenager/early 20s. It was seedy and wonderful, and now it's like a high-priced shopping mall.

11. Boston in Bangkok!
Born and raised in New Hampshire, and went to school in Boston, and baseball is my fave. And now I have to find a pub that will broadcast the games at 6 in the morning as I'm a million miles from home, in Bangkok. Will wear my shirt with pride!

I've been so delighted at how many people have recognized it, gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling about DUers having really good literary taste.

18. Here!
... in Christchurch New Zealand.

I'm from Pittsfield MA and am in my 30th season of my affliction (Sox-itis - I didn't catch it until I was eight years old).

My brother-in-law was in the US this summer and brought me back a Schilling t-shirt which I shall be wearing with pride (and trepidation). Still don't think we'll win though...

19. WOO HOO!!! Fan since '74
'75 turned out better! :)
Grew up in Springfield. My dad always watching on the tube evey weekend.
Remember as a young boy in '67 being at Mountain Park in Holyoke while the Miracle Sox made their run for the pennant. Everyone seemed to be walking around with transistor radios listening to the day's game. (Another heartbeak ending of course.)
This year feels good.

My thoughts are such, you gotta beat the Yanks at least once at home, then win at least two of three at Fenway.

Grew up in Lanesborough (find that on a map) listening to the games on the radio. Went to school in Boston (Northeastern) Had an apartment on Queensberry St, we could go up on the roof and See Jim Rice and the monster and that was about it.
Now, in the middle of Yankee land.
