Rental car flat tire?
Just a quick question here - my wife's rental car has a flat tire in her work parking lot... is she responsible for the repair?

(Her car is getting repaired after getting rear-ended)

1. Don't think so...
I actually sliced a tire on a rock in Hawaii a year ago.
I changed the tire, and returned the car the following day. I told them about it, and they pretty much just ignored it.

BTW, this was with National Car Rental if it matters. And I declined collision damage waiver fees.

2. Call the car rental place
I think most companies will take care of their product.

3. They will probably take care of it.
I got a flat on a trailer I rented and the company dispatched a repair vehicle to the middle of nowhere in Iowa to fix it for me.

5. It depends on the company.
I work in Loss Control for a rental car company. Did she take the extra protection? If yes, then no, she's not. With my company, if the tire just went flat and there is no rim damage, we would not pursue her. Can she get the spare on? If she can't, there should be a phone number for roadside help on the rental ticket, or she can call the branch where she rented the car. They should be able to get someone to help her.
