I have so many spiders surrounding my house
Two more just built webs on the front porch.

I almost walked into one of them -- this big ass spider was just spinning his web and I saw him in the nick of time :scared:

They give me the creeps, but I like the way they eat all the bugs.

1. I've got them everywhere here, too.
Huge boys, hanging around the outside of the house, in the bushes, in the mulch, some in my garage.

6. No, I always leave them alone.
They do kill other bugs.

in the South where spiders and crickets get very active.

Do you have a "Golden Silk Spider" in your web. They are beautiful and build huge webs...but usually in the coastal Southern areas. They are very attentive to their babies...who soon learn to "go their own way."

Did you ever read "Charlotte's Web?" Makes one think twice before whipping out the newspaper and going at them. :D

7. same problem here
i have whacked their webs in the walkway area every day or two for months. finally the smart ones have leared that if they pick an area away from walking traffic i will let them be.

unfortunately, like presidential candidates, not all of them are smart.

10. Heh
I'm in the process of building up my Outer Limits collection.

Trouble is, everyone wants too much money for the Zanti Misfits.

I've been buying them off Ebay.

13. justa wild guess but you have cats, right?
I am a small, mean petty person and I chase all cats off my property. Instead, I have hummingbirds. Lotsa hummingbirds. I have been informed by the good folks at LSU that one good sized hummingbird can ruin a spider's whole day.

I do not have spiders.

My close friend who has lotsa cats and no hummingbirds has so many humongous spiders that I visit her place when I need to photograph a spider.

It's the law of unintended consequences. I think her spiders are cool but I won't give up my hummingbirds for them, and she won't give up her cats to get hummingbirds, so we're all happy.

I think if you have a lot of outdoor cats then it might be unrealistic to expect the smaller, bad-tempered birds to police the spiders in your yard.

OK, flame or laugh at this theory as you wish.!

15. now, tell me
why do you chase the cats away??

one thing about these cats -- if anything comes in the house, crawling or flying, it ain't gonna last long.

18. i am too well trained
why do you chase the cats away??

My birds have me too well trained and they have a special scream, the cat scream, to let me know it is time for me to run out and flap my arms and make an idiot of myself chasing cats.....

17. Same Here... HUGE Webs Under The Eaves Near The Security Lights... But...
the worst part is that the spider shit lands on our white siding, and it leave little spidershit stains all over the place. Who knew that those little buggers could make so much poo?

-- Allen

Maryland spiders are annoying, but not nearly as bad as Florida spiders. Creepy! I just got a shiver thinking about it.
