1. Egad...my son is only four years from that!
I hope I can take it...I already feel like he is so grown up.

5. Mine wants me to fix up my old Jeep Renegade for him...
I told him NO. I remember the trouble I got into when I was a teen driving the thing.

2. Couple of years and I'll be there...
Mine's in that rebellious "13 1/2-year-old stage" that lasts until...what?...25 or so?

Kids are fun at this age...they start becoming real people instead of reflections of us.

6. No sports...his choice.
His mother and I are divorced (for the past 6 years). He came to live with me a month ago (she lives 15 minutes away).

We get along great, even if he doesn't like that my rules are a little stricter than hers. So far, so good.

:)

No truer words ever spoken. I hope I can understand and tolerate that better than my parents did. :-)

8. When I was younger, I thought I'd be a lousy parent.
Fortunately, I was wrong. I actually hope he's getting as much out of it as I am...

9. My sister has a 14-1/2 and is finding this time very challenging...
(they also have a 3-year-old). I have an 8-year-old, and am wondering where the time went, and how i'm supposed to be calm when i find out she has a boyfriend for the 1st time in a few years (i hope it will be a few years).

11. "boyfriend" is usually a relative term...
I freaked out when my son was 8 and said he had a "girlfriend"... Seems it's like the whole "going with" thing that was around when I was a kid. No big deal.
