If Red Sox go to WS, 2004 - greatest comeback in sports?
Edited on Mon Oct-18-04 04:17 AM by bigskydem
As a Braves fan, I still get chills remembering Sid Bream chug it around third and beat the Pirates in 93 on a Fransico Cabrerra single up the middle in the bottom of the ninth to send them on to the WS (they lost it)

But to see the SOX comeback from 3 losses to win the ALCS? Would that be the greatest sports comeback?

2. It would, but I can't imagine them doing it
Their pitching is so mangled right now that for them to reel off three straight wins would be more than shocking.

I think they shot their wad tonight.

It will be up to the Cards to teach Houston a lesson for winning the wild card.

I had DLCS tickets too.:(

Has any team ever come back from losing the first three in the postseason?

6. Only 2 teams have ever done it...
and they were both in hockey in the 40s and the 70s (45 & 76 I think)

5. In 64, 67 or 68 (can;t remember which)
The Cardinals won 9 in a row to win the NL and go to the series -- this was regular season, before they made divisions and had need for playoffs.

10. Nope. Biggest choke in sports history
And that honor will be the albatross on the neck of the Yankees and their fans. Even the Sox aren't that pathetic.

A healthy dose of humility awaits ...

12. That would just be lovely
Many years from now when people hear the word choke in baseball, oh you mean the 2004 Yankees, ahh that would be delicious irony.
