Movie: "Saved" Mandy Moore as bible banger....
I must admit I wathed this with my wife and 14 yo daughter...

We laughed....great satire. Really exposes "big box" christianity in a youthful entertaining way....

Some good messeges too.

One of the better teen movies I've seen in a awhile.

2. eh...
It was not satire. Or if it was it was strawman satire. A cotton candy version of real critique of effed-up Fundamentalist values. It's great that it preaches basic tolerance, but of course the idea that a 15 year old perhaps shouldn't have a child and might have other options is of course too radical for this Fundie Lite movie.

3. Agreed.
Fugit was as good as ever, and Macaulay Culkin was surprisingly good.

4. I really liked it as well.
I really like Jena Malone, ever since "stepmom." And I think MM may be the one popster of her generation to have any substance at all. She was great. Culkin went along way towards making me forget he was Maucauley Culkin. Fugit is awesome.

Loved Pool Jesus. Laughed my ass off.

Very good message, and I like that no one was a cardboard character, with the possible exception of MM's character, though even she deserved some sympathy in the end.

Best line, though, in reference to the Bible thrown at her head:

"This is NOT a weapon, idiot."

Amen, sister.

7. I think best line award has to go to
the scene outside across the street from the Planned Parenthood clinic talking about what a good Christian girl would be doing there and the response is "what? planting a pipe bomb?" Sorry - don't remember lines verbatim. Saw it when it first came out a few months ago.

5. Me too...
It's going to be required viewing for my nieces this Christmas. My oldest niece is the living incarnation of Mandy Moore's character, Jesus crispy to the nth degree.

God help me, i'll be bringing a liberal minded movie into Orange County, a notoriously republican stronghold... gasp!

I hope "ahnold" doesn't drive to John Wayne airport and try to ban me.

6. I liked the girl from "Welcome To The Dollhouse".
I can never remember her name. She's always been referred to in my household as "the girl from 'Welcome To The Dollhouse'". Which, by the way, my wife hated. She loved "Saved", though.
