Am I insensitive
I'm listening to my co-worker (who should be working) crying on the phone to her x-husband's girlfriend's brother. About stupid shit I don't think he cares about. I'm thinking "Shut the fuck up, get to work. This is like fucking highschool."

I don't know I've never been married, or in a Serious relationship that went bad.

But I hear this NONSTOP ALL THE FUCKING TIME and am close to saying"GET THE FUCK ON WITH YER LIFE!"

Am I being to harsh?

1. How recently did this husband become an ex?
If it's super-recent, or perhaps the guy cheated on your co-worker with the girlfriend, I'd cut her some slack.

That said -- I keep my personal stuff out of the workplace. The only divorce-related stuff I discuss on the phone at work deals with the business end -- finances, housing, etc. (My employer allows us reasonable personal calls during work hours.) If I have a desire to talk about my feelings, it gets done via e-mail.

On the very, very off chance I feel a need to vent verbally, I step outside, at a break time, with a cell phone. That's happened once that I can think of, in the six years I've been working there.

3. No, you're not.
It's about being professional in the workplace. We all have problems, but we have to do what we have to do. Everyone needs to have a little slack cut and we all have off days, but ongoing stuff is tedious and shouldn't be a part of work.

I've even said it in a nice way- they don't even care. The post below mine here explains it perfectly the kind of people we're dealing with.

7. well maybe she needs to talk to a therapist or something
that is what EAPs are for- when people are so upset about personal stuff that it affects their work. Seriously.

Do you have them up there? Seems likely since your health stuff is more progressive than ours. Or she needs a coaching and counseling form. ( I was a manager for a few years)

yeah maybe you are a little insensitive, but maybe this needs a structural response.
