Official ALCS Thread - New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox - Game 6
We're back at Yankee Stadium, the House that Ruth Built and where the Curse thrives.

John Lieber - coming off a sparkling outing in Game 2
vs.
Curt Shilling - has the heart of a Lion but the ankle of a toothpick

Can the Red Sox force a Game 7 after being down 0-3 in the series, or will the Yankees add to their illustrious history with another drubbing of their Beantown stepstools?

KEY NOTES: Both bullpens have now been overextended after over 26 innings in the past two days. Whichever pitcher has the stronger outing will help their team prevail. Curt Shilling's ankle is the biggest concern for the Red Sox, but Reebok has contributed a special sneaker to Shilling for tonight's game. Yankees need to improve their hitting with runners in scoring position or else they will not win tonight. Johnny Damon needs to get on base more (he scored the winning run last night).

Good luck to all , but GO YANKEES!

1. If Boston did pull this off, it would be the '69 Mets all over again.
I was in junior high school, and I still have the yearbooks, LOL!

7. Deconstructing the "KEY NOTES"
1. In the almost 200-year-history of organized baseball, NO manager has EVER said "Our bullpen has exactly enough rest. They are ready for anything that happens."

2. Good pitching always beats good hitting. Naturally, whichever pitcher has the stronger outing will help (his) team prevail. Also, "stronger" and "help" are weasel words, making this statement completely meaningless.

3. If Reebok has a special sneaker to improve Schilling's performance, it seems idiotic for them to have withheld it until today.

4. Improved hitting with runners in scoring position is an admirable goal. In fact, it's universally desirable. This means that the statement "Yankees need to improve their hitting with runners in scoring position or else they will not win tonight" is not exactly going out on a limb. It's akin to saying that the team ahead after 9 innings tends to win.

That said, I can't stand either of these teams. I hope they wear esch other out over the next two games, so that whomever advances loses to the Better League.

11. we missed a great game last night because the yanks/sox double header..
rolled into one continous game. The Senior Circuit has been getting dissed hard because of this ALCS.

Boston's pitching is starting to get pretty thin, as evidenced by Bronson Cornrow's appearance last night. Schelling will be fortunate to work his ERA down to 10.00 for the series. My prediction is that the team with the fewest amount of base runners to cross the plate will most likely not win tonight's matchup.

12. Good pitching always beats good hitting
And vice versa.

Reebok constructed the special shoe for Schilling when he injured his ankle, right before his last start. They didn't "withhold" it, because the need for the shoe didn't exist before Schilling was hurt.

17. Geez. Someone's a real grouch head tonight
I never asked for your opinion on the choice of my words =)

As for the Reebok sneaker, it has special cushion zones specifically targeting the area of Shilling's injury. It's not like Jeter can wear this shoe and he will be able to jump 20 feet.

By the way, the Yankees were ahead after 9 of their innings and they lost Game 4, so I really don't think it's going out on a limb. Nice try.

Go Yankees.

But they'll all get to bed early tonight when the Sox unload the lumber and even the series for Game 7 tomorrow.
