2. It will really be satisfying when the Astros take out the Cards today.
The REAL team of destiny is the Stros.

12. That will be quite a dramatic conflict.
As a fan of Houston baseball since the Houston Buffaloes of the minor leagues and the Colt 45's (as a second grader I saw the Colts improbably beat Sandy Koufax) I look forward to finally seeing some success.

5. Damn. Who is the guy who did the ESPN radio call?
Great voice. Can't remember his name. Big old bald guy. I was hoping it would be him.

6. Jon Miller
He'll do the games on ESPN radio, likely with Joe Morgan

7. Thanks. And drat. I love hearing him call games
Morgan just pretty much craks me up, but McCarver makes me want to claw my eyeballs out.

9. I can't stand McCarver either
But I like Joe Buck, so it's a win-lose for me. Great pic of McCarver, BTW, in all his smugness.

15. Funniest thing I ever heard-Miller impersonating Vin Scully in Japanese
Miller called games in Japan for several years in the beginning of his career-at least it sounded like Japanese.

I can't even come close to replicating it in text but it was hilarious. He had Scully's timing and inflexion down pat.

16. Hell McCarver works the Yankees into games they aren't even in
National League games too. I don't think I have heard him do a game without mentioning Jeter at least once, usually comparing a player in a different position on a different team in a different league to the all mighty Jeter.

13. fuck him!!
damn hack.

"That walk is just as good as a home run to the Yankees."

Oh yeah? Never heard of a double play? I was screaming at him for that one (in game 6).

Then I saw Bill Simmons caught it too:

"If the Yankees are down by two runs in the ninth inning, and somebody walks -- like Matsui did in Game 6 -- apparently it's as good as a home run. That's how Tim McCarver explained it last night. I'm not sure if just the Yankees are immune to double plays, or if it's everyone in the league. But it's an interesting development."

Openly roots (IMHO) for the NY Yankees. Really annoying.
