As a fan of Houston baseball since the Houston Buffaloes of the minor leagues and the Colt 45's (as a second grader I saw the Colts improbably beat Sandy Koufax) I look forward to finally seeing some success.
16. Hell McCarver works the Yankees into games they aren't even in
National League games too. I don't think I have heard him do a game without mentioning Jeter at least once, usually comparing a player in a different position on a different team in a different league to the all mighty Jeter.
"That walk is just as good as a home run to the Yankees."
Oh yeah? Never heard of a double play? I was screaming at him for that one (in game 6).
Then I saw Bill Simmons caught it too:
"If the Yankees are down by two runs in the ninth inning, and somebody walks -- like Matsui did in Game 6 -- apparently it's as good as a home run. That's how Tim McCarver explained it last night. I'm not sure if just the Yankees are immune to double plays, or if it's everyone in the league. But it's an interesting development."
