ineffective parenting? having the crap beaten out of them every day at school? inability to get laid? supreme gullibility? a knowledge that they are so far from the norm that they have to embrace other abnormal-ers?

my vote's on childhood neglect or abuse that turned them into adults void of compassion for their fellow man.
