I love Arabic music!

I went to a concert last night by Layaali, a Massachusetts-based group that performs classical Arabic music from the early-mid 20th century. It was 4 men, from Syria, Palestine and Morrocco, and a woman from Lebanon. Incredible stuff! I loved the music and the singing, completely mesmerizing. If you ever get the chance to see it live, you should definitely check it out! :bounce:

middle eastern music video`s which represent traditional and modern forms of music. i agree the music is very interesting but i go for the more modern music. my favs are sultana and natasha atlas

was into Hindi Hip-Hop... something I never knew existed until he introduced me to it. Some of it was pretty cool!

Awesome song - the "Knight Rider" remix is my favorite.
Also check out the Buddha Bar compilations with Claude Challe - all kinds of Arabic, Hindi, Urdu stuff. Talvin Singh has a bunch of Indian tabla music but it's similar to Amon Tobin , kind of drum'n'bass but with tablas, where Tobin is drum'n'bass/jungle but with jazz. Amr Diab had a popular song a few years ago called Habibi - also worth checking out.

7. Fez Music Festival

There's an annual festival of sacred music at Fez, Morroco. We have the CD set from there, and it is incredible! It includes music from Spain, India, Pakistan, and West Africa as well as Arabic music, but all is worth it.

Do you like sacred Arabic music? I am referring to the dhikar, the ceremony of rememberance of the Sufis.

8. Orphaned Land

Is a very unique "metal" band. They have a very Arabic sound to them. They are from Israel. Their album- Mabool is nothing sort of a masterpiece.
