I'm predicting Kerry's administration to be the most hated Democratic presidency America's hardcore right will ever know. Even if he does a terrific job, which I'm sure he will, they'll lie, cheat, whine, and wail at every possible opportunity, factual or otherwise. And just like always, we'll vent their smoke and filet their red herrings.

It will be great to be a DUer wit Kerry as president. I don't think it will take away from the experience at all, and as you say, our work wil only have begun.

I fear "digging in their heels" may be an understatement. Expect them to bring IV drips and colostomy bags to filibusters. The detrimental toll massive Republican senatorial opposition can have on our democracy cannot be overemphasized.

There are exceptions, of course. But for the most part we're dealing with extremist sycophants willing to grind the country's legislature to a halt to perform idiological fellatio on their deposed boy king.

Even the most despised absolutist can count on their loyalist base to wage a war of attrition after they're toppled from power. President Bush has reminded us of that once; hopefully he'll do so again next week.

in the white house is only the first step in our battles. The Right Wing Conservatives have been working their perfidy for 20 years. They're not going to suddenly retire their plans if they don't have a man in the oval office.

"Liberal" should never have been allowed to become a slanderous term. I'm resolved to make it a respected term again.

After 11/2, Kerry and Edwards will be under attack from all the right-wing machinery that's already in place: hate radio, Faux News, other cable-news talking heads, etc.

It will be a constant battle to keep these jerks as "honest" as possible, and to stick up for our new president.

Remember what the right wing did to Big Dog over the course of eight years. They couldn't get to him, but they sure as hell tried -- and they succeeded in getting him impeached, of all absurd things. They did everything they could to try and discredit him. They still do.

This must not be allowed to happen to Kerry -- and his detractors will be coming after him, you can count on it.

I've also been avoiding boards that allow R's to stomp on others' and have free reign. It was such a relief to find this board and others that actually share my value system. If you listen to them long enough you start to wonder if there is something wrong with being Liberal. Emphasis on just 'wonder'--never fully believed it.
