Poll question: What Strangely Appropriate Song Should the Bush Campaign Adopt?
I hear he's now helicoptering himself into his campaign events using "Danger Zone" from the Top Gun soundtrack. I get the concept, but "Danger Zone" is kind of an uncomfortably accurate description of the area in which Bush travels. What other hip yet strangely appropriate song will they seize upon next?

1. Here Today, Gone Tomorrow by the Ramones

And I think of times we were together
As time went on it seemed forever
But times have changed
Now things are better
Someone had to pay the price

Oh oh oh, oh oh oh
It's over
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh
It's true, it's true

2. "The Party's Over" by Nat King Cole
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 09:15 AM by CO Liberal
The Party's Over

Artist: Nat King Cole
Words by Betty Comden and Adolph Green and Music by Jule Styne
Introduced by Judy Holliday in her last film "Bells Are Ringing" (1956), also starring Dean Martin and Jean Stapleton
Charted by Doris Day at #63 in 1957

The party's over
It's time to call it a day
They've burst your pretty balloon
And taken the moon away
It's time to wind up the masquerade
Just make your mind up the piper must be paid

The party's over
The candles flicker and dim
You danced and dreamed through the night
It seemed to be right just being with him
Now you must wake up, all dreams must end
Take off your makeup, the party's over
It's all over, my friend

The party's over
It's time to call it a day
They've burst your pretty balloon
And taken the moon away
Now you must wake up, all dreams must end
Take off your makeup, the party's over
It's all over, my friend

It's all over, my friend

7. I'm a Loser by the Beatles
I'm a loser
I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

Of all the love I have won or have lost
there is one love I should never have crossed
She was a girl in a million, my friend
I should have known she would win in the end

I'm a loser
And I lost someone who's near to me
I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

Although I laugh and I act like a clown
Beneath this mask I am wearing a frown
My tears are falling like rain from the sky
Is it for her or myself that I cry

I'm a loser
And I lost someone who's near to me
I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

What have I done to deserve such a fate
I realize I have left it too late
And so it's true, pride comes before a fall
I'm telling you so that you won't lose all

I'm a loser
And I lost someone who's near to me
I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

11. The Horst Wessel Song
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 09:31 AM by amber dog democrat
http://www.anesi.com/east/horstw.wav

The Horst Wessel Song.

Flag high, ranks closed,
The S.A. marches with silent solid steps.
Comrades shot by the red front and reaction
march in spirit with us in our ranks.

The street free for the brown battalions,
The street free for the Storm Troopers.
Millions, full of hope, look up at the swastika;
The day breaks for freedom and for bread.

For the last time the call will now be blown;
For the struggle now we all stand ready.
Soon will fly Hitler-flags over every street;
Slavery will last only a short time longer.

Flag high, ranks closed,
The S.A. marches with silent solid steps.
Comrades shot by the red front and reaction
march in spirit with us in our ranks.

This is VERY exterme but sometimes I wonder.
If not for a strong history of civil liberties, how far
the Bush administration would go if un checked.

I think about Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale often these days.

by the way, I saw her talk in Ausitn last year and she stated that everything in The Hamdmaid's Tale had happend at some time or another in American History.

23. Its the End of the World As We Know It
Its the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) Lyrics - Document Album

That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane - Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn - world serves its own needs, don't misserve your own needs. Feed it up a knock, speed, grunt no, strength no. Ladder structure clatter with fear of height, down height. Wire in a fire, represent the seven games in a government for hire and a combat site. Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the furies breathing down your neck. Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered crop. Look at that low plane! Fine then. Uh oh, overflow, population, common group, but it'll do. Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed. Tell me with the rapture and the reverent in the right - right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, brightlight, feeling pretty psyched.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

Six o'clock - TV hour. Don't get caught in foreign tower. Slash and burn, return, listen to yourself churn. Lock him in uniform and book burning, blood letting. Every motive escalate. Automotive incinerate. Light a candle, light a motive. Step down, step down. Watch a heel crush, crush. Uh oh, this means no fear - cavalier. Renegade and steer clear! A tournament, a tournament, a tournament of lies. Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives and I decline.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

The other night I tripped a nice continental drift divide. Mount St. Edelite. Leonard Bernstein. Leonid Breshnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs. Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom! You symbiotic, patriotic, slam, but neck, right? Right.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine...fine...

(It's time I had some time alone)
