This has been nagging at me for a bit. Gotta get it off my chest.

Hey, DU, I just want to thank each and every one of you. Finding this place has been wonderful. Kindred spirits, smart people, smart alecs, smart asses, all. All of which are a joy in their own right. I've learned a lot, laughed even more, and really enjoy signing on each day.

I have been deeply disturbed by this administration, the damage they have done to our rights, our economy, our reputation and our relationships around the world. Finding this place made it seem a whole lot better. Not only that, but it made me get off my ass and actually work, donate, support and talk to people about the truth. For that I thank you even more.

I have a sneaking suspicion that I will be celebrating late on Tuesday next. I get the returns directly from the horse's mouth because I'm a poll judge here, south of Chicago. Even though this area is rather conservative, I am happy to report that Kerry & Obama posters far outnumber Bush and Keyes.

Let's keep on working, folks! Vote early and often! (at least in Illinois)

I joined up a few days more than a year ago and have now posted over 3,300 times on DU, or about 9 posts per day for a year.

Never before in my life as a liberal have I given money to any candidate, distributed anti-Republican or pro-Democrat literature. Now, this year, I have given money to John Kerry, congressional candidate Jim Sullivan, the DNC, Move On, Truthout, and, of course, DU.

It's a great sounding board for my now frequent LTTEs and for combatting the Republican propaganda machine.

The real work starts November 3rd, though, in protecting Kerry from the RW media machine & Republicans in Congress.

I live in Chicago...in Edgewater, actually. I don't think you'll be working long. Both Kerry and Obama will easily win here. Obama's race will be one of the VERY first races called by the networks. :-)

I used to live in Roscoe Village. Left at the peak of the Yuppie invasion. I sure miss Chicago.

I live in IL as well (Elgin). I have seen 6 - count 'em - 6 Keyes lawn signs in my town. This is very cool.
I live in an area that has been traditionally R, but is rapidly turning D. These are exciting times to say the least.
