I bought a Bearded Dragon yesterday...
He's just a little baby. He's adorable. I had no intention of buying him when I went into the pet store to buy crickets for my toads, but he actually jumped to the side of the aquarium as if he wanted to get to me. The sales assistant opened the cage for me, and he walked into my hand. I lifted him out of the cage, and he sat perfectly still, looking at my face.

The sales gal said that she had been handling him since they got him. He is perfectly tame and loves the human touch--our iguana hates to be held. I adore him...my son named him Geronimo, and he calls him Geo.

I'll post his photo soon, but for now, here is a photo of a Bearded Dragon from the internet:

please copycat me. It would be an honor! Plus, they won't ban you for ONE copycat thread.

On edit: Maybe I should rename Geronimo. How's Nooky sound?

5. Well, they haven't banned me for my hundreds of other copycats.
Still, I don't know that "I bought a bearded clam yesterday" would be any of DU's business. :P

7. bearded dragons make great pets
when I was an undergrad I worked in a herp lab--we had four bearded dragons--they were always my favorite. As long as they are handled every day, they are extremely tame and enjoy being touched. I'm sure that you and your family will love your new friend!

9. Yes, he loves to be held.
When he gets a little larger, I am going to let him roam a little bit.

I might actually get a female later, and allow them to breed. I might turn to you for advice if I do that. :-)

8. Bearded Dragons are cool!

We had an iguana (for 12 years) that mostly liked to be left alone. I have read and heard that the Bearded Dragons adjust well to human contact. Good luck with it. Let us know how things turn out.

10. Sid, my iguana that's my avatar...
doesn't like to be held. I have tried and tried, but he struggles to get free.

Geo, though, loves to be held, and even to be petted. He's a cutie. I'll post a photo when I have time. :-)
