My dog is sad cuz the cats won't play with him
he keeps trying. The oldest, Punk, just smacks him. Rudy won't get near him. And Molly just trots away, sits on a shelf and stares at the big spaz while he cries at her.

1. You need another
kitty. One that will play with your poor pooch. I only count three - surely you have room for one more?

6. Is that typical that they won't play with him?
Is he really large and does he beat them up?

7. he's a big spastic puppy
he tries to be nice to them, but they want nothing to do with him. Molly tolerates him best - she'll let him lick her and snuffle her a bit, then she gets sick of it and moves to higher ground.

8. oh, now I get it. My cats would be running into the basement under
that circumstance. However I know of a cat who goes up to a German Shepherd and bats him in the face about 20 times. The dog loves it and wags his tail while the cat does this.

9. heheh
the oldest guy swatted him a few times, and now Tucker goes into a full submissive "down" when Punk walks in the room. It's funny to see.

10. Tucker needs a BABY PUPPY
actual, sbp's puppy's puppy gave me the idea.

We had a chow who felt klunky around the cats. Once she quit trying, the cats loved her pillow abilities!

12. Some cats ARE "dog people"
my mom has a cat named Eddie who LOVES playing with dogs. Her roommates sheltie is Eddie's favorite toy-they chase, wrestle, play games-it's adorable!

My mom adopted a friend's older cat two years ago, and because there were already interspecies games going on, the new cat joined in the fun in no time at all.

I think all you need is a "bridge" pet-dog or cat- that enjoys interacting with all your pets (maybe a smaller dog)?
