Freeper reaction to Redskin (Bush) loss
To: tirednvirginia
Exactly. The "officials" incorrectly called a penalty. Wonder if this portends anything for the elections?

"Officials" incorrectly call a penalty?.

Hmm... not that I believe any of this stuff.

Hard to win the game when one of the officials is voting for sKerry!!

Illegal motion my A$$!! They keep showing the replay and I don't see anyone moving ANYWHERE!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

7. Officials hate the Redskins
I am a 'Skin fan who couldn't bear to watch the game, so I didn't see the play in question, but I can testify that this season an awful lot of crappy calls have gone against them. This is the usual thing, nothing to do with the refs rooting for Kerry, more against the Redskins.

They lost a big Monday night game against the Cowboys on 2 crappy calls. Joe Gibbs mentioned it after the game, and it was talked about for days afterward on the sports channels. Refs against the 'skins is the rule, not the exception.

16. All teams get crap calls. Goes with the game.
Unless you have done some statistical analysis of questionable calls then there really is no reason to think this happens to the Skins more than any other team.

Oh, and Skins fans whine a lot. ;)

Everything changed on 9.11. The historical mythology no longer applies.

11. Y'know, it's gotten so I can't tell, anymore.
People will posts snips out of FR threads here, and I can't tell anymore whether they really have worms in their heads, or if I'm reading posts by DUers who are much more savvy about 'running stealth' over there than they are over here. One clue is that everything is spelled right -- I'm surprised they haven't figured out, yet, that a poster who spells everything correctly on Free Republic is 'punking' them, and actually is a DUer who enjoys subversive political theater.

They hardly deserved to win the game, even if that call was weak.

17. If it WAS a shit call, then the coach is to blame for not challenging
I believe that the coach knew it was a good call, and so didn't bother to challenge it.

Or else the coach is an utter bonehead.

To not challenge a call like that, on a play that just put your team ahead? Either the coach knew it was a good call, or he should be fired.

21. couldn't be challenged
That was a penalty call that nullified the touchdown. I wish you could challenge crappy officiating, but...em...for the sake of superstition, just not in this one game. =]

22. Okay, maybe I'm obtuse. I certainly don't follow sports very much.
But - if you can't challenge an official's call, then how come challenges happen?

What are you challenging, if not an official's call?

Isn't that what the instant reply stuff is for?

If not - then what's to challenge?

23. I wish they could be challenged
Penalty calls can't be though. Spots, receptions, completions, touchdowns can be challenged, but crummy penalty calls or non penalty calls can't. <Shrugs>

26. as a lifelong skins fan i gotta say, it was a legit call,
thrash was in motion, turned toward the line of scrimmage, but did get set before the ball eas snapped.

that didn't cost the skins the game tho, brunnells pick the next play did that.
