This is the fire.

If we lose tonight or tomorrow, what you do thereafter will be profoundly significant to your own life. If you turn your back on public affairs and social responsibility, you might be comfortable, if numb, in an existence of superficial concerns. If you turn to art, you might do some good. But if you stay in the fight, become part of a loyal opposition, hold the new administration's feet to the fire, never letting them usurp congressional powers again, or allowing them to turn over the facts without our attempting to right them, then you will have survived the crucible of fire and can count yourself ready to handle any political disappointment in the future (and there WILL be disappointments in the future. At the age of 57 I can assure you of that.)

But . . . if we win!!!!!!! Wow.

The fight will always live!

Win or lose we still have to work. It was a non-stop battle during Clinton's years and it will be during Kerry's.
