Not wasted - I can see them turning you away if you are drunk. I wonder if you have a beer and the poll sitters smell it can they make you leave?

Wondering because I'm going to a pre-voting party here in CA. It would suck if they turned away 30 Democrats.

I wouldn't chance it if I were you. How about voting and then doing the celebrating?

4. You can't stop someone who's drunk from voting...
...any more than you can stop someone who's stupid from voting.

10. You can in SC
stop someone from voting. Poll workers are allowed to challenge you or turn you away if you seem to be under the influence.

I don't understand why anyone would want to take a chance on anything getting between them and their vote. It's real simple...if you're in doubt, don't.

6. as long as you don't drive to the polls.
Actually, I think it's a state by state thing. And within states, it almost certainly is enforced on a precinct by precinct basis, depending on the mood of whoever's running the polling place.

I wouldn't risk it though. Besides, you don't want to accidentally pick the wrong guy!

7. you sure are
in 1980 I registered rethug to vote against Reagan in the primary. I lived in the precinct that included most of Piedmont, CA (very rethug at the time) I made a point of downing a couple of shots of wild turnkey before casting my votes. our little old lady republican neighbors were somewhat appalled when I told them I was rethug. but they handed me my ballot.
