Official Immigration Thread- Where To?
Spare me the posts about "good riddance coward", "I'm a fighter", blah, blah, blah. I don't really give a shit what you think about me wanting to get the hell out of this idiotic theocracy. I'm looking for suggestions about enlightened nations that it would be possible to immigrate to without being a millionaire. Portugal, New Zealand, Canada, etc.- what country would you consider and why?

1. Vancouver is a Lovely City
and close. If what looks like what's about to happen in this country actually happens, color us all BC Canucks.

Great Chinese food, big Chinatown, good universities, lovely harbor, skiing 10 minutes from downtown, 60 klicks from downtown and you're in wilderness.

Only thing -- it rains a lot. Paradise, otherwise.

The rest of the Ameri-tards can do whatever the hell they want, long as they leave me the hell alone.

2. At this point...
any place but here in the heart of Repug upstate NY.

I'm partly disabled. Does anyone know if I can keep my social security disability check (until BushCo. bankrupts social security) if I move outside the country? Maybe a Canadian physician can actually figure out what's wrong with me.

4. If I didn't have an ailing 83-year-old mom...
...with no other siblings either A) nearby or B) as devoted, I would be on the next plane to Melbourne tomorrow.

Australia may be totally fucked for a while (thank you, Mark Latham and your spineless ALP -- THAT election was YOURS to lose!), but at least the beautiful, friendly Fatal Shore still allows same-sex immigration.

And, should Oz fail, within a reasonable amount of time, to straighten out its regression into the 1950s, my partner and I would probably end up relocating to New Zealand.

5. Why don't you establish yourself in a "red" state?
Get a job and live amongst them. Sway them in time. Most people, even gung-ho bush fans, can be converted if they are hit over the head with the logic hammmer repeatedly.

I ain't going anywhere even though I have dual citizenship in a pretty progressive EU country. I could leave for good but I can't. This is my home. This is where I grew up. These are the ideals that I was taught to aspire to. So, I'm not leaving. I'm staying put in Missouri and I will help to change from the very interior of this country.
Please stay here and help us.

6. Victoria Island, BC. I already started pricing property.
Our California home should actually allow us to 'trade up' there, provide real estate prices hold much as they are now.

This spring, we plan to make a trip to check the place out.

If nothing else, my wife and I can actually get married there -- and have it count for something.
