If the Red Sox had shown as much fight as Kerry...
...the New York Yankees would now be world champions.

I can hear it now: "Well, we're down 3 games to 0, 4 to 2 in this one, and they've got Rivera up.

(dials phone)

Hello?... Congratulations, Mr. Torre. Enjoy your hard-earned title."

1. The sox winning was the last ugly stain of the curse of Boston
that includes that of the Bambino.

Denis Leary said that even when good things happen to the redsox really bad things happen. One example of a few he gave was the week that Fenway opened the Titanic sunk.

A few days after I saw him say that the Sox won the ALCS and a girl was killed tragically by cops firing "non-lethal" weapons.

Now a few days after they win the world series the worst thing to happen to the world and particularly the "blue" parts of the US it's capital this year anyway being Boston, is heaved apon us.

5. Perhaps, but whose figures are you adding with?
There is some interesting stuff here at DU today about discrepancies between exit polls and official totals occurring mainly in states using the new electronic "black box" voting. Meanwhile, our mutual friend Greg Palast claims that a million votes had already been safely tucked away for Bush** before the polls even opened.

Please tell me they're not bringing BBV to Canada...

7. And in reverse...
No offense to you, my friend, but as a Red Sox fan there were many times this past season I would curse and stomp around the room and gripe "Why does every error, every bad call, every fucking questionable play always wind up in favor of the @#$!! Yankees?!!" I feel the exact same way now about modern politics. Everything winds up going the Republicans way. If a state's in doubt, well, it goes to Bush. If someone's accused of negative attacks ads, of course it's Kerry. In politics, the new rule seems to be "the asshole always wins." That's going to have to change.

4. Let's see.

There were thousands of ballots that were thrown out, diebold machines with no paper trails so that votes could not be recounted, not to mention disenfranchied voters and other "irregularites." So what's a good thing to do? Blame John Kerry! Now there's a good, productive idea! :grr:

6. Blame Kerry? Who, me? I want to see him fight back
against everything you just mentioned.

What would the liberal-controlled media </sarcasm> do if Kerry uttered the phrase "black box voting" at a news conference? Guess we'll never know...

9. According to Randi Rhoads
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 07:37 PM by calico1
the reason they decided to give up was that a lot of the votes in Ohip in question were on Diebold machines that had no paper trail so there was no way they could be recounted.
