60's music makes me feel so much better
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 10:15 AM by Mr_Spock
I'm sitting here at work listening to some late 60's mp3's I have on my player. Makes me feel so good hearing the rebellious energy and enthusiasm in this music - it gives me hope knowing that all trends reverse over time and things are worst just before they get better. I'm gonna do everything I can to bring back that rebellious American spirit that made this country what it is (was). It's the only way we can be saved. "Say you wanna Revolution"

1. Yep I've been listing to Peter, Paul and Mary
I was hoping to listen to them in celebration but I think I take as much heart in them with the loss. Just reminds me we have to continue to fight... not with cynicism or apathy but with the same passion that we had on November 1st.

11. Passion is the only way.
I couldn't stop fighting if I wanted to - I'm permanently fired up at this point. We need to bring this energy of ours to bear. I'm ready.

2. I was thinking the same thing only about movies....
Watching great movies from the late 60's and early 70's makes me feel like at the very least great art can come from this horrible period, as it did back then.

The angry, fed-up child of 60's protest music. :hi:

8. As long as it is rebellious and has a certain naive optimism
I love it. I don't want to be jaded or full of hate. I need that youthful optimism in my life - I'm not even sure that the youth of today have that same crazy optimism and free-thinking energy that we had. Times are truly tough. I am going to be as disobedient as I can - I wanna be a short-haired hippie.

We got a revolution, got to revolution.

Ain't it amazing all the people I meet
want a revolution, got to revolution.

One generation got old.
One generation got sold.
Now this generation has no destination at all.

6. I've been listening to
Quicksilver Messenger Service, a San Francisco summer-of-love band, mainly forgotten nowadays.

But they did a song called "Pride of Man" that seems especially relevant now. And another one called "What About Me" is worth a listen.

And, back in the day, their lengthy guitar jams at the Fillmore were as highly regarded as the Grateful Dead.

Up next: the Doors.

14. FIVE TO ONE BABY

One in five
No one here gets out alive, now
You get yours, baby
I'll get mine
Gonna make it, baby
If we try

The old get old
And the young get stronger
May take a week
And it may take longer
They got the guns
But we got the numbers
Gonna win, yeah
We're takin' over
Come on!

Yeah!

Your ballroom days are over, baby
Night is drawing near
Shadows of the evening crawl across the years
Ya walk across the floor with a flower in your hand
Trying to tell me no one understands
Trade in your hours for a handful dimes
Gonna' make it, baby, in our prime

Come together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together, aha
Get together one more time!
Get together one more time!
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together, gotta, get together
