what are you saying to the fundies at work ?
When they twinkle at you or mention in business meetings about their Christian Prayer weekends praying for the country.

I am on the line between being obviously silent, or saying something about willful ignorance.

1. Let them have their party.
Now is not the time. Now is the time to organize.

3. Yeah, I don't bring it up either
Most of the folks I come into contact with on a daily basis are conservatives who went for Bush. (Mississippi resident here) It puzzles me that they vote against their own economic interests, but I don't feel any real ill will towards them or any rancor. The ones I've known are really good folks. What killed us liberals is "moral values." When you can get them off of that onto things such as our fucked up tax code that has loopholes for the rich and screws the middle class under, big business corrupting politicians, environmental issues, health care, public education (especially public education), you would be surprised how often you find agreement than not.

10. THAT is something that will fade.
And soon wear thin.

Remember: Not everyone who voted for HIM is a freeper. Some are just scared and confused.

They are our targets.

11. heard one North Dakota guy call into Ed forgot his name on AAR
I was listening in the car (since I can barely hear it here..grr. so frustrated that i can barely make out what Gregg Palast is saying here. but I digress--)

Anyway, this guy called, said he is Repub., Conservative, and he said he agreed with some of Kerry's views, but it was the moral issues. He likes Ed because Ed talks like the people he grew up with. He also like Rush. Anyway, you could hear he had questions and I thought, gee if liberal churches (I'm saying Church here because that is the platform that gets their attention, apparently) could get out a strong message, in a unified way about what morality really means it would be good.

2. I am so thankful that I don't have to deal with that..
My whole life I've gotten in trouble for running my mouth. I'm sure I'da been fired about half-way thru the primaries. Or shot, or tarred and feathered - run otta town on a rail, as it were.

4. Nothing makes them happier...
then to get you upset. They are not mentally well. Something in their lives has made them want to bully you and everyone that doesn't submit to them. Treat them as you would any other sick person that needs love...real sincere love. You have it. Just think about how lucky you are to not want to bully another. They will live a life of bluffing and not be able to give or receive true love. Keep your distance if you can and if you can't....just keep your mind focused on making them want to have compassion.

6. I don't work with them but do run into them. My line is "I have decided
to fully back the president. As here have been so many soldiers lost, long tours of duty, yada yada, I am advocating that our country institute a Draft immediately. It should be for all persons, male and female between the ages of 18 and 30." That usually makes them flee as most have children

8. I've made it pretty clear to the fundies I work with that I
became disillusioned with religion over a decade ago and came to the conclusion that believeing in their mythos made about as much sense as believing in fairies and elves, and that all things considered, I'd rather believe in the elves :).

13. I had been determined not to talk about w/ the pugs in the office - but
Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 09:24 PM by DODI
one had to egg me on. I went off on him. I don't even feel bad about it. He is one of the nicest people, but he got me on a bad day. I went off about 1120+ dead military, 20,000+ dead Iraqis -- for what. I went off on the privitzation of Social Security -- I told him that his FICA doesn't go into some magical savings account - it is what is paying his parents benefits and to privitize would jeopordize that. He did seem to have realized that. For the final punch I added how abortion rates have gone up under *. He was stunned. When I spoke with Freeper sister today I tried to avoid the issue -- was telling her my 6 year old was going under the knife today. But, no, she brough it up. I chose gay rights as my weapon. I said I could never get behind a group that would take rights away from people. She assured me I was wrong. When I proceeded to tell her about the Virginia laws and the experiences of friends not able to be with their dying loved ones she told me I was wrong and I should be tending to my child. Does anyone else run into this -- when you tell a freeper/fundy they are wrong or what is really happend and back it up with experiences and facts they tell you you are wrong -- IDIOTS!!!

I am going to see if my husband has any more valium left from his back injury before I go to work on Monday.
