What is up with all of the beige?
So I tried to obtain a sofa today. I went to a local affordable-but-decent furniture store to check them out. They're all beige. Or beige, with a hint of red or a hint of green. Or a soft purpley beige. All of the "also available in custom" are beige with subtle patterns.

WHERE CAN I GET A SOFA WITH SOME COLOR IN IT?

2. Earth-tones are easier to match to the curtains and carpet.
They also hide spooge stains better.

3. There will be no "spooge stains" on my couch.
I have trial-sized bottles of every stain remover known to man. (Don't ever say my job doesn't have its benefits.) There will be none.

I don't have curtains or carpets. I have wood. (That sounds a lot dirtier than I expected.)

5. Only if he stabs me first.
Which would have made the entire trip more pleasant.

"Well HELOOO! young lady! Do you! need some help! I'm DENNIS! I'll be right here following six feet behind you throughout the store until you buy something, leave, or bludgeon me with a chair!"

12. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Hey! I thought of you today when I heard of some huge toilet confab happening in China (I know, I know. HOW flattering!) Anyway I was wondering if your employer was going to help the Chinese with their toilet etiquette and cleanliness in anticipation of the 2008 Olympics. I say, if anyone can get 1,000,000,000 people from pissing in open air trenches in just under four years, by god, it's the Chinese!

15. My employer stays out of that, sadly.
They don't send me to toilet confabs in Asia.

7. I hate beige
the first thing I did was have my condo painted. And I'm tearing up the beige carpet too. I'm going to have grey.

8. I remember the other time
beige wiped all color sense out of the universe. It was in the 80s under Reagan. Coincidence? I think not. Next thing you know, Bill Cosby sweaters and minivans will come into vogue again.

10. My walls are beige with lots of poorly-painted brown woodwork.
It actually works pretty well. But I want some color to liven up the room itself. (Dennis: "That's why we also offer pillows and throws, dear.")

11. I don't know, but I hear you
I'm sick of the dull neutrals myself. So when I needed some new TV room furniture, I lucked out and found a matching loveseat and chair in red leather - they were marked down 50% because they were a cancelled special order.

You could certainly say my house is not plain. ;)

17. I'm wondering how my birds would handle leather.
In my price range, though, leather will either have to be a cancelled special order, or really crappy.

18. I've already got some scratches on it from the cats
But you know, I don't live in a museum, so I figure it will get the wear it gets.

Yeah, I seriously lucked out when I found that price. Ask Dennis about any recently cancelled orders ... in color. :D
