I'm Obsessed with the Election
Of course, I know that we all are... but I work and go to school and worked for the Dems in addition and thought that after the election I could get some rest. I don't know about you but this is interfering with my sleep. I am obsessively coming to DU and buzzflash and looking for some news... a hint that there may be something new coming out. This fraud business is worse than losing an election honestly. When that happens I am heartbroken, but I know that is politics and you win some and lose some. But this has made me feel helpless. I know we all are experiencing this. At least I am glad for DU, although I'm relatively new around here. God forbid if I was just getting my information from the talking points media, who have been talking about his "enormous victory" as if it were some sort of a landslide. Even if a person was to not accept vote fraud, he has 51%! That is not appropriate to call for a mandate as they breathlessly state over and over. Maybe I need to try to get this off of my mind for one night. How are you guys coping?

1. I had a Don Knotts film festival last night.

I'm not kidding. It was a coping thing. I had seven or eight friends over and we watched "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken," "The Reluctant Astronaut," "The Shakiest Gun in the West" and "The Love God?" while ranting about bush the whole time. And I'll tell you something: it worked, sort of. But, like you, I'm still obsessed.

(edited to add slight qualifier in second-to-last line)

2. Look for ways to convert that into action
Seek and find. It is a moral requisite transcending patriotic duty.

10. I agree...
the first time this week I have heard the word "moral" in a way that makes sense, as opposed to the so-called "moral" Bush voters. What a joke that is.

I've seen the astronaut one... it was so ridiculous and funny in an innocent way. you're right, comedy sounds really good right now.

3. This is exactly how I was after election fiasco Part I in 2000 .
Bartcop and Buzzflash , along with Bushwatch became my books of care for those days .

Its Sunday and I am still pissed off , the shock is slow to wear off , my distraughtness is gone . I am coping by doing a lot of baking , playing a lot of puzzle games , and just being defiant against the rethugs . I am gonna be a biatch to all Bush supporters that come my way for the next 4 years . Oh yeah , I have sworn off watching the news . I have not watched the news since Tuesday's Election night . They pissed me as well . I watch more Cartoons and Comedy Central because everything else seems like a joke . I am doing much better than I was on Wednesday . I just stayed in the bed all day . Crying . I can't believe this moved me so much . Like dayum - I know now that I am alive with the way that I cried when I heard that Kerry was conceding . Today was the first day that I smiled the entire week .

4. I'm obsessed with this erection
It's really a very nice representation of the human form. I think the sculptor was going for a thoughtful expression...

6. The best thing you can do right now is forget it!
Take a week off from anything political. Relax, watch some comedy. Clear your mind, and when you're ready, come back fighting! We have much work to do.

8. thanks for the ideas!
Relaxation will be wonderful. And channeling this energy into action. But first I've got to do something unrelated to politics, chill out for the next day or two.

7. I've lost friendships
Edited on Sun Nov-07-04 01:11 AM by Erika
Or chose to negate them. Bush's war is one fought by poor kids and rallied by rich families. My GoP friend's boy is a rich kid who is into race car driving and college, paid by his rich parents. They are totally 100% for the war and GOP tax cuts. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain. We are no longer friends.
